Re: Got Key Fob to open Flipper Glass

Nice find. Now since I already removed my Panic button nibs months ago (to disable it), I need to find another way to make the flipper contact inside the fob. A nice project for a rainy day.

Anybody have any idea what the other absent button is for?

Re: Got Key Fob to open Flipper Glass

So I just took the remote apart. I got the button for the back glass to work. The other button seems to just flash the lights.
Update: the other button seems to only be used on the mini vans for the passenger side sliding door. Apparently the "door flipper" button is used for the driver side sliding door.

I wonder if it can be programmed for something like operating the air ride after the engine is started?

Re: Got Key Fob to open Flipper Glass

Does anyone have a picture of the key fob you are talking about? Mine doesn't seem to have any "spare" buttons - 2012 Overland with keyless.

Re: Got Key Fob to open Flipper Glass

Here's one with flipper glass button (lower left). If you order a fob from parts, this is the one you'll get.

I will have to check mine to see if I have the two blanks as I miss having the flipper glass button that my other trucks had. Nice Find!!!

Try coming back to your Jeep with the glass open in the middle of a downpour ....

Re: Got Key Fob to open Flipper Glass

Don't you have to hit the button twice to get the flipper glass to open? With that in mine, I would think it would be hard to open it by mistake. They shouldn't just remove a button because some people didn't know how to use it. Thanks for the info, I am going to try the modification on my key fob. having the glass open is useless unless you can do it before you get to the vehicle.

Take a flat head screw driver pry it apart in between the cracks be careful not to do it to hard as it with scratch your key fob

It does not open it all the way it just unlatches it . it takes 2 clicks to open it . Its great when someone wants to get something out of the back and you are a bit away as the flipper glass on the hatch will only open if the key is within a few feet from the back.

Re: Got Key Fob to open Flipper Glass

This worked perfectly for me. Thanks, dckcentuar.

Incidentally, if your flipper glass were open and you were to try to open the hatch, your lights would flash. Hopefully, that would clue you in that the flipper glass is open.
