The other button is used on the minivans to open the sliding side doors.

Potential replacement (with flipper glass button)?

More in other listings.

Unlike the WK1 the WK2 rear glass does not have a strut on it to "pop" it open. Therefore there is a potential for one to accidentally open the rear glass without knowing. This would defeat some functions, ie auto start. It would also really piss you off if you realized you accidentally popped the rear glass in a rain storm and had to get out to close it. Hence why Chrysler deleted the option.

If its not this thread there is a whole other thread that is dedicated to the pros and cons of WK2 rear glass key fob operation.

If you could re program the vehicle to do something use full with the two unused buttons that would be something else.

Really? So how does the glass stay open while you are getting things in and out of the back? Do you have to hold it open?

it does stay open once you lift it but it will not open on its own when the glass button is pressed. It just unlocks it

Once the glass is "levered" open, it stays open. It just has no way of moving from "unlatched" to "open" by itself. Sort of like having the manual rear tailgate; if you unlock/unlatch it, it's "open", but not really open until you actually "open" it....

Confused? Sorry....

Thanks for explaining it better, I couldn't figure out how to explain it.

This one looks right: http://goo.gl/Ck53g

As noted below, this is not the right one.

Re: Got Key Fob to open Flipper Glass

I don't think engineers at motor companies just dream up all day to find ways to take features away and punish us. I have read a few complaints in early 2011s that people with electronic lift gates had the spoilers crush the roof of the car wile opening or even glass popping out! I'm not willing to try it on my new 2012 but I would bet if I left the glass open and opened the power lift afterwards, I might live to regret it. Maybe I'm wrong but I would also be worried if I had a warranty that they might void it with altered FOBs. Computers do record lots of things today. Just A Thought.

I know my flipper glass on my 2012 overland has unlatched itself dozens of times on its own. I replaced the fobik battery and it stopped, so it seems the fobik was sending the unlock command in error when the battery was weak in it.

Odd?
