I like a shift handle that lets me flick once to Drive and once to park or tick it one spot from park to reverse and flick it to drive from there.
Heck, I'll take push buttons over a rotary that makes me turn it through several gears to get to drive.
I had a '14 Ram with the knob and now a '16. I love it. On the Ram it eliminated the floor shifter if you have the console. Now that whole area is for storage and it cleans up the look of it also. I don't have the console but it still eliminates the column shifter for a cleaner and just as functional look and operation.
When I drive my '08 Charger I find myself reaching toward the dash for the knob to change gears and actually miss it.
The knob is just as quick as a regular shifter when moving between gears.
I had a '14 GC for a week as a rental on a trip 2 years ago. The shifter was maddening to me and just relaxing my leg a bit caused the shifter handle to dig into it. I can't believe they actually let that design get to production.
The Durango with the knob eliminate both problems. The '16 GC redesign seems to have fixed both the wonky shifter and the t handle comfort issue.
