Re: Got my 2016 today!!

The move to the new shifter I belive has been dictated by people's inability to operate the old one. They were cases were people put them in neutral instead of park and jeep rolled. Lawsuit waiting to happen ...

I'm ok with the old shifter but I have to admit initially it was a bit quirky. My wife which does not drive my jeep primary still fumbles with it sometimes.

As far as sport mode ... I agree poppingbin and out od it by pulling on the shifter was a nice feature. Since the new shifter has more of a mechanical fake feel than this cannot be accomodated.

Still takes some muscle memory to operate it. I've had friends wanting to test mine out and they would always blow by their choice while moving the shifter. I've also had odd time where id slide it forward only for it to stop in neutral.

A thumb switch on the shift knob - like my wife's Altima has for switching overdrive off - would be a nice alternative to having to hunt for a button on the dash. Oh well.

of course!

however, it's been delayed another day. getting via dealer trade and the car they are trading with the other dealer has not yet arrived as it was scheduled to. GRRRR! dying!

that being said, i did ask my guy to ask the dealer on whose lot the '16 HA is sitting to go look at it and tell me what color the window trim is. this is a sore spot for me, as the only thing i don't like about the '15 HA is the chrome window trim. makes no sense - why black out everything else and leave that? so in my pre-buying research, i found conflicting info. first, on jeep's website, the only images have the chrome trim. however, when i picked up the GJC brochure from the dealer, the only picture of the HA in it has black window trim. i got excited! but today, the guy got back to my guy and said it's chrome. dang it! so i'm getting a price right now on having them swap it with the black SRT trim. hopefully i can get it done before i pick it up.

Re: Got my 2016 today!!

So with the new button to engage and you turn Spode Mode on, does it stay turned on or do you have to enable it each time you start the car? I wish you could select the default drive mode...

I like a shift handle that lets me flick once to Drive and once to park or tick it one spot from park to reverse and flick it to drive from there.

Heck, I'll take push buttons over a rotary that makes me turn it through several gears to get to drive.
I had a '14 Ram with the knob and now a '16. I love it. On the Ram it eliminated the floor shifter if you have the console. Now that whole area is for storage and it cleans up the look of it also. I don't have the console but it still eliminates the column shifter for a cleaner and just as functional look and operation.
When I drive my '08 Charger I find myself reaching toward the dash for the knob to change gears and actually miss it.
The knob is just as quick as a regular shifter when moving between gears.
I had a '14 GC for a week as a rental on a trip 2 years ago. The shifter was maddening to me and just relaxing my leg a bit caused the shifter handle to dig into it. I can't believe they actually let that design get to production.
The Durango with the knob eliminate both problems. The '16 GC redesign seems to have fixed both the wonky shifter and the t handle comfort issue.
