So today was the start of my weekend and I noticed a local dealership had a dealer stocked Overland Hemi with adaptive cruise and saddle interior. Since I am about 1 month into my order for that exact package I had to go check it out. The salesman was cool and we went for a nice long drive. I got to test out the adaptive cruise package which was the first time I have driven one equipped with that and OMG that is the most amazing feature ever designed!!!! It was soo cool to be coming up to a stop light with a car in front of me and have the Jeep do everything for me. Blind spot detection seemed great as well both of the mirror indicators were going on and off. I find it hard to believe people questions its $1200 value.
The Jeep drove so solid and smoothly and not to put the V6 down in anyway, but man that Hemi just feels amazing. Just the powerful sound of it put a smurk on my face.

Anyone else ever take a little pre-delivery joy ride at the dealers expense? ;-) (this is not the dealership I bought my Jeep from)

Im 26 days into my order and I cant wait!!!!

Sadly to say, i snuck up to the jeep dealership (which is about a mile from my house) saturday night after they closed. they keep the key on the side of the window, and, if you put your hand behind the door handle it will open. so, after the dealership closed, my wife and i just went and sat in an overland... was awsome. i dont have enough balls to go back in there during the day as i didnt buy my summit from them. i bought it from a dealership about 20 miles north of the above mentioned dealership. i know if the one near my house saw me coming i doubt they would let me in the door, so, i will just go at night...

You're kidding-- it was the *exact* same package?? After the report of a factory order arriving without a key feature, I'm surprised you didn't throw down some cash on the barrelhead and drive it away. Screw the factory order! Glad you got a chance to tool around in the same vehicle you're waiting for.

Well ok I take that back about being the exact package. What I meant more or less was it was a Hemi equipped Overland with ACC package and saddle interior.
The one I drove today was black exterior and that I do not want. Also the new 730N RHR was a requirement of mine to and obviously no overlands have that yet.
And besides when I told that dealership what price I got the one I ordered for they laughed at me and said they couldnt even come within $2,000 of that. lol

James, I know the feeling man and was happy to live vicariously through your post!
I ordered Nov. 11th my Mineral Gray/Saddle Overland, Hemi, panoramic sunroof, 20's, etc BUT......No ACC package and I really feel like I am going to regret it! Anyway, I am told it will be here tomorrow or Wed morning but I am not holding my breath at this point.
I may just have to go find and drive an ACC equipped model, order that one and give the first one to my folks who are looking to get rid of their Tahoe.
You got me thinking!!!

Hey Fritz -

I'll have your twin! I have a Mineral Gray/Saddle Overland, Hemi, Panoramic, 20's (I did order the new 730RHR) on the way. I too passed on the ACC. Might regret it, but I don't want to start over now.

This ACC package is gonna be the next Toyota-gate of 2009. It seems that people put a little too much trust into the system. One failure and its a recall to not let it work under X MPH or something similar. I enjoy the act of driving so I'll continue to use my foot for the brake.

Yeah I dont know about that. Adaptive cruise control has actually been out for a long time now but its just starting to get into a little more affordable cars. I bet pilots said the same thing when fly by wire systems and much more advanced autopilots started becoming the norm. Now pilots only touch the flight controls for maybe 5% of a typical flight. Im not saying for driving to get anything like this, but if people always kept that kind of mentality we would be stuck in the stone age. Dont get me wrong I see what your saying, but its more of a safety package than anything else and as someone else said before I bet you that myself personally, I will be a less aggressive driver now that I will simply set the cruise and let it do its thing instead of me passing cars, resetting the cruise, braking, change lanes, pass another car, reset the cruise etc etc. Set it once and just sit back :) Really is a great tool/feature
