Lmao! I had a feeling this would come from someone in Wisconsin.

This should never have happened, bottom line. Other carmakers can deliver vehicles without these issues...why can't Chrysler. My sunroof drains were never connected at the factory (I've read that more than once), this problem, other production related issues...its just not acceptable in a vehicle in this day and age.

If this happened to your Jeep, I promise you wouldn't be as forgiving.

Hope it works out for you OP.

Speaking from experience with Jeep and Chrysler. Search out the Owner of the Dealership and demaned he do something right away. The dealer made a Hugh profit on your purchase. He can easily take your Jeep and resale it. They also share in the blame. Why should you be inconvenienced with a New Purchase?
Especially one you didn't even make it home in and being told the part will be in on the tenth! This is the start of a Great Chrysler Customer Service experience.

I am not saying this is acceptable, but ironically enough VW issued a stop sale on Jettas, Passats and Beetles because of a potential risk of the transmission cooler line leaking and causing a fire. Guess the connectors were/are defective, leaking, breaking, dumping transmission fluid. Must have been quite a few cases for them to actually put a stop sale out.

What about the selling dealer? You, or Chrysler, paid for a Pre-Delivery Inspection, and the selling dealer did not catch this. If this should have been so obvious to a trained tech visually inspecting the vehicle prior to delivery, shouldn't the selling dealer bear some, maybe most, of the blame here?

Re: Got my new 2014, didn't make it home!

I personally don't assign blame to the dealer. The dealer should not have to inspect the mechanicals of the car to make sure they were assembled properly. It never should have left the factory that way.

I'm in full agreement with Jeep doing a buyback or offering you a free lifetime warranty. If that would have happened to me I would have had a "wtf" moment lol

Re: Got my new 2014, didn't make it home!

Yesterday I got a call from the next higher department at Chrysler. He said that they will be reviewing my case and will make a decision on compensation within the next week. He said he would follow up with an update by the end of this week. This got escalated right after I sent (more like faxed) them a letter expressing my extreme dissatisfaction and demanding a replacement. I don't know how many times I typed "serious safety defect" in that letter. I'm almost positive they won't replace it, but I'm not going to accept anything less than a comped 8y/120k service contract and my first payment paid.

Three days ago the parts department said at least another week and a half ETA on the new hose, putting me awfully close to the 30-day lemon law rule. Today I went to the dealer to check in and talk to the tech about the failure. My SA looked up in the computer who was doing the work, got a confused look on her face and said it looks like the hose is here. The tech came out and said FedEx delivered it today, overnight express.

Can't help but think the letter and subsequent escalation magically made the part appear.

The tech said transmission damage is very unlikely considering there was enough fluid in it to move right up until it locked out. He said he'll pull up clutch pack diagnostics to make sure tolerances are where they are supposed to be. It'll also be going in for a full exterior detail to get rid of all the oil.

This part would concern me. Definitely don't accept anything less than your comped extended warranty. "Your transmission worked great until it didn't... if it moves again with new fluid, it's fine" is an unsatisfactory analysis. It's not just the clutch pack you have to worry about. Bearings could have run dry, any number of parts could have been subjected to extreme heat...

Re: Got my new 2014, didn't make it home!

I'm working on getting them to replace the vehicle now. This is turning into a real CF, and I don't mean Chrysler-Fiat!

The dealer can't figure out how to replace the line since it was likely installed as a unit with the powertrain and there's too much in the way to R&R. There is no documentation. No service manual procedure. The dealer has been working with engineering on a fix since Friday now. We're getting dangerously close to the 30-day lemon law rule which I will take full advantage of if it comes to that.

Chrysler's current offer is an untold amount of "trade in assistance" toward another new one. At this point, I'm pretty sure I won't accept anything less than a straight across trade for an identical Jeep.

Wish you the best.
The hassles, stress and inconvenience must SUCK.

Do not wait, take advantage of the Lemon Law at this point if the dealer does not want to replace.
