Chrysler's current offer is an untold amount of "trade in assistance" toward another new one. At this point, I'm pretty sure I won't accept anything less than a straight across trade for an identical Jeep.

Trade assistance, are they nuts? You didn't even make it home. I agree with you, 100% of what you paid towards another vehicle of your choice.

In the USA if you buy something and have a receipt, you can return a defective purchase for an exchange or money back.
It's completely outrageous that this is not the case here so far for a $50K+purchase, wow. They should have offered you a replacement. The dealership should take the own is even though it wasn't their fault the factory made the mistake. Nevertheless, it was a product they sold so they should take it up with Chrysler themselves on their dime and not inconvenience you any further.

That sucks I brought my wife a new mazda 3 we took it home was looking at it closer and saw a large scratch on the roof that we did not see at the dealership called them about it could not fix the scratch, and they found us same model on the lot and did new paper work for that car. You need to get a lawyer if that want get you a new jeep.

You should be getting a free lifetime warranty on that vehicle or the next one you choose to get from Chrysler.

Re: Got my new 2014, didn't make it home!

I'm currently working with the resolution team at Chrysler. They said they're willing to do what they referred to as a "goodwill trade". I'm pushing for a straight across trade and while they haven't said yes or no at this point, the rep sounded receptive and said he would get back to me after confirming my local dealer is up for it. There's an almost identically configured WK2 on a lot in my region; only difference is it has a CD player and no block heater making the invoice price about $250-ish more. I'd be willing to pay difference in invoice and if they balk at that, I'll pay lemon law use deduction (price x miles driven / 120,000) but nothing more.

The dealer will have NO problem selling mine as used or probably certified used.

I would accept nothing less than a straight across replacement vehicle. Their product ate shit, it is in no way your fault and they need to stand behind it. It's about time to lawyer up buddy.

Don't think I'll need to...a deal is being worked out and I should be in a new GC as early as this weekend. The dealer that has the one I want valued the trade surprisingly well and Chrysler should be taking care of the difference.

I'd ask them to cover your first month's payment as well (if you financed, that is)

Good to hear that man! I hope you will have a chance to fully enjoy your Jeep. I do enjoy mine. Would not trade it for anything else.

With your luck though ... get yourselves a nice service contract from here: CHRYSLER SERVICE CONTRACTS: Extended Warranties from Chrysler. SAVE 60%! Quick Quotes. Buy Online.

Just to be on the safe side ;-).

Re: Got my new 2014, didn't make it home!

I was planning on getting a service contract from Zeigler but I still have yet to decide which one I want. I figure I have 12 months and 12,000 miles before the price goes up so I have time to mull it over.

The sales manager I'm working with talked to his Jeep regional rep and found that they can still do MY14 factory orders in special cases, so that's what we're going to do. He worked out a deal with my resolution team rep for a straight across trade. He also told me to go ahead and get the plates for the one I have, keep driving it until the factory order comes in and he'll reimburse me the state registration fees when the deal gets done.

The only thing we haven't worked out yet is sales tax. Washington charges sales tax on the difference between the trade in price and the new car price. How the cash Chrysler is throwing into this deal gets written up makes all the difference here.
