Re: Got my new 2014, didn't make it home!

Good to hear you were able to work it out with Chrysler, without going the lawyer.

Good luck with the new one!

Re: Got my new 2014, didn't make it home!

Final update and hopefully the end of the story.

The new one came in and I took delivery yesterday. It's everything I hoped for. The trip home was flawless. My total out of pocket for the deal including TTL was less than $800 which I consider completely fair for three months and 2,600 miles of use.

My experience with the dealer was mostly good. They tried to change the trade in value on me between the order date and delivery, but a stern phone call to the GM of the dealership sorted that. They had me out the door in less than three hours even when dealing with financing and my inspection of the vehicle. If I wrote a check I bet I could have been out in half that. They didn't try to sell me ANY add-ons, whether it be warranty, accessories or otherwise. Tom's Country Jeep in Hermiston, Oregon seems to be a decent dealer.

Excellent!! I hope your new Jeep continues to perform well! You deserve some "away from dealer time" now after all that!

Re: Got my new 2014, didn't make it home!

That's great news! I was glued to this thread as the thought often occurred to trade in my 13' Hemi Overland JGC for a 15'ish Diesel Overland JGC.

On a side note, there seem to be quite a few JGC owners in Washington State. Maybe plan a meet and greet.

Enjoy the new jeep without all the previous headaches. What if anything happened legally between the old one and the new one?? How was Chrysler during this transition?

No legal action had to be taken. My original interaction with Chrysler didn't get me far since I was working with a standard CSR. I wrote a letter demanding a new car and outlining how my current vehicle was not safe and how I was no longer confident in its long term reliability. I actually had to fax it since their email system was down for weeks at the time.

That immediately got me escalated to the "resolution team" which eventually offered what they called a "goodwill trade" in which Chrysler would toss some cash at a trade to a new one. They offered $3,000, I found a dealer that would get me close to a zero balance on the deal and ordered an almost identical vehicle. I was expecting more cash out of them, but no matter how much the sales manager or I pushed the rep and his supervisor at the resolution center, they wouldn't budge.

Most of what I paid is TTL. I think the difference ended up being something like $177 before TTL and doc fee. I think its a fair number for how much I used the old Jeep; it's less than the Washington lemon law use deduction.

When you had your vehicle or even the one you have now do you notice a clicking sound as if the engine is cycling like it would doing the air or heat was on?

They all do it. I'm pretty sure it's the DEF injector.

Re: Got my new 2014, didn't make it home!

I though the DEF was for diesels. I have the 5.7 V8. 2014. I checked a buddy of mines 2014 SRT and his clicked with the air or heat on during idle and once I turned those off the engine stopped doing that.

Phone doesn't show signatures so I figured you were talking diesel.

Probably A/C compressor clutch if it quits when the HVAC is off. A/C runs with the heat to dehumidify the cabin.

Re: Got my new 2014, didn't make it home!

What you say makes sense but this clicking or cycling sounds happens whether the air or heat is on or not. I'm more concerned that it's occurring while neither the air or heat is on. The dealer has had it since Monday so the jury is still out. The tech says that normal and I'm not thinking that's the case since I've compared mine to another one even though it was a 2015 SRT but at idle it shouldn't be different.
