Re: Got Smartbeam?

I only seem to be flashed right after I go from empty to a full tank of gas.
Seems like the @$$ end sits low for a while until the self-leveling works again.

At first I thought maybe it was the fact that I use my fogs in the country,
but then I payed a little more attention and its the extra weight that is pulling the back down.
Within a half hour I stop getting flashed.

Re: Got Smartbeam?

I have the Kinda Smartbeam option. I'm pretty much on top of my lighting when driving, switching to high beams whenever I can. The system is impressively quick when passing an oncoming vehicle, but doesn't switch to high beam if it sees a car about to dip below a distant hill, if streetlights or farmyard lights are "seen," or if you're below 20 mph.

I deselected Smartbeam. For me, I felt it diminished the effectiveness of my lighting, as compared to manual control, and was a bit less safe.

Mines never came on. Maybe because I live in NYC.

Re: Got Smartbeam?

Love the smartbeam feature one less thing to think about when driving, I forget how many times I would be driving home at the end of a long work day and forget that I had the high beams on till you get the return blinding flash reminder.

Re: Got Smartbeam?

My previous (2009 Overland and 2005 Limited) Jeeps had SmartBeam, and it worked pretty well. On my 2014 Summit, the function seemed to be working well until this morning while headed home (in darkness) from work. It did not dim the headlamps until there was a nearby or sufficiently bright set of headlights approaching. Not sure what changed or if this is something the dealer will have to check when I take it in sometime in the near future... maybe the 13.___ update will address this?
