I just received my Tazer today. I was curious for those that have it, what was the first thing you did/first things you recommend doing?

I have yet to plug it into my vehicle and want to do more research before I start messing with the system. I also dont have a windows computer so need to use a friends to access the ZPU.

Any and all advice/recommendations appreciated!

I have no idea what that it means. Any more info on how to do that?

I'm looking forward to playing around with this thing. Of course the day it shows up is the day I leave town. I'll try and get it set up/take some videos to post next week

Start with this:

On my 2014 Overland, I have done the following -

- NAV in Motion (only works with Tazer Unlocker plugged in
- Disabled DRL Dropout (DRL stays on with turn-signal)
- SRT Gauges (basically different font & colors)
- SRT Performance Pages (EVIC pages; 0-60, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, g forces)
- Light Show
- Rear Cam while in Drive (double-click the 'mute' button to view video; only works at low speed)

I have not tried Line Lock and I haven't had to reset any codes. I haven't been able to figure out exactly how to reset adaptives, but will keep trying.

Works as advertised with no issues. In my mind, it's worth the price for the NAV in motion - the other stuff is just fun to play around with. (It would be nice if they could figure out to get the mirrors to auto fold with lock)

If enough people are interested, could look into getting a group buy together (or feel free to name drop for referrals)

Will this work on 2017?

Also FYI on 2017 I just noticed they now allow the Backup Camera while in drive !!

But it resets after like after 10 seconds. But this is great to just take a peak at what's going on behind you (check a trailer etc.).

You shouldn't need a computer - mine was shipped with the latest firmware and you just plug it in and change the settings on the EVIC display on the gauge cluster.

I think you only have to plug into a computer if you want to do things like set shift points and whatnot (more relevant to charger/challenger vs the Jeep)

He means run Windows in a virtual machine using something like VMWare Fusion or Parallels (assuming you're on a Mac). Many of us do that to be sure we can run certain applications that just are not available for MacOS. It's like having "another computer in your computer"... :)

Reverse camera - with the Tazer, you can double-click 'mute' and turn on the rear camera when not in reverse. It only works up to 10mph or so since Jeep cuts the power to the camera (you would have to re-wire to get it to stay on at speed)

If the limit is 10mph then that is almost useless.

There is no Speed Limit on the 2017. But there is a time limit.

Just finished playing with my tazer. God the SRT gauges and speedo are sooo much nicer than the standard. The light show is pretty sweet! And the ability to change to rwd instead of all wheel drive might be useful I'll do some testing on mpg. Also the nav in motion feature is nice even though I use waze for everything. Pics and video to follow. It was very easy.

You don't even need to hook it up to your PC if you don't want to change the light show options or create a custom light show.

Just plug into obdII and everything is done through the evic screen with the car in the on position but not running for the main changes. Then once you are done with those options you can start the car and get the in motion options like nav in motion or AWD mode etc. you use the steering wheel buttons to navigate and change the settings.

I finally got around to playing with it a bit today and will do some more in depth tomorrow. Did get the lightshow that I liked set as the default.

I need to play on the ZPU with the custom lightshow feature. There are a ton of options so itll take some messing around to figure it all out. Will try and post some videos tomorrow.

That's what I suspected it might be, but I'm quite sure I've at least been able to choose favorites or recent destinations, and start navigating...all while driving. I will have to check that on my way home from work today to verify. Maybe it only prevents actual address inputs, but still allows POIs and other existing destinations to be chosen while moving.

Has anyone with the Tazer played with the "Customizable Light Show" tab on the ZPU?

I tried messing around with it today but couldnt seem to figure it out.

In case anyone was curious, I tested the factory nav in motion capability...The only thing you can't do while moving is use the keyboard. Everything else is still available, including scrolling through POIs. You can also use the 'less than perfect' voice input for addresses. If you speak clearly enough, without pausing too long between words, it does work. Basically, with all this factory capability, I don't see the 'nav in motion' feature of the Tazer being all that important....but I did just order one anyway for the other features! :D

ECO mode is not for the jeep. It's not what you think it is. Click the link in my previous post. It explains that the Eco mode is related to the challengers that have the scat pack.

Tl;dr: Tazer Eco mode is not designed for the jeep, only challengers

Quick question, can I have the light show while in motion ?..if so how do I do it ?..
I was reading the TAZER page and got confused finding out if the above is possible.
I know I can activate the light show by pressing the unlock and lock buttons...but obviously cant do that while driving...so is there a simple way to have the light show while in motion ?..
Thanks
