Re: Government Safety Ratings

For the 4WD Jeep the Roll-Over has 4 out of 5 Stars. For the 2WD Jeep the Roll-Over has 3 out of 5 Stars.

Re: Government Safety Ratings

The NHTSA has new methods of testing. Most vehicles were "downgraded" to 4 stars.

Is this weird, or what?

You'd think the extra weight of a 4WD drivetrain would make a roof crush more, not less, although the 4WD's extra weight also lowers the center of gravity slightly.

It might be the extra weight of the 4X4 keeps the gravity lower and it has a smaller chance of roll over.

Re: Government Safety Ratings

The new NHSTA standards are VERY hard. I haven't seen a 5 star yet. the toyota camry has 3 stars now. The GC is a top safety pick & everything but still only has 4 stars.

Re: Government Safety Ratings

Do you think they did their crash tests on all the elusive Mineral Gray ones used for catalogs, commercials, and promos?
