Make sure you choose the vehicle trim based on your very own needs/wants. There are many configurable options with the JGC and even then you typically can find one configured to your liking on the dealer lot.

My off road experience has been in some sand (tires aired down) and also a bumpy/muddy area behind my home where they have torn down the trees in lieu of new home construction. It drove flawlessly. One thing to keep in mind is how much off road you plan to do and what type of terrain it will be. Some of the upper trim packages include the more advanced off road capability (4-Lo) and features.

Like mentioned above, the Rear ParkView camera can be obtained now on late 14' MY Altitudes and it comes with the 9 speaker premium upgrade as well. I believe this adds about $890 or more to the previous cost of the Altitude. I have a couple dealers around me that have the vehicle on the lot. The sticker price will show $39,475 which is how I searched online at my local dealers. Package 23Z should be in the description to ensure it's a Altitude package.

Good luck with your hunt for your new Jeep. Regardless of your decision you will be extremely happy.
Fantastic everything I needed to know. Your baby looks great. I am thinking to go Bright white. My last 3 cars were black and 1 Graphite.

Re: Grand Cherokee Altitude Your thoughts?

I think the altitude looks nice. While I like the Cherokee, something about those lights in the front ruins an otherwise nice looking vehicle for me.

Re: Grand Cherokee Altitude Your thoughts?

The only potential negative of the new Altitude's is that you cannot get the QT-II system, which gives you 4-LO.

If you plan to off-road, you'll probably want 4-LO.

Agreed. I think the basic 4x4 capability will suffice.

I was also looking at a Cherokee TrailHawk but secretly I really wanted a Grand Cherokee. Ended up with Bright White Altitude '14 and man I love the thing to death. First non GM vehicle I have ever bought (used to work there) and so far haven't had a single hiccup with this thing. Such a cruiser on the freeway and its averaging 22.9mpg overall after 2k miles. Amazing how many people have stopped to ask about the altitude (although many who don't know any better think its an SRT) Only thing wrong with it is the lack of the camera. For all the tech in the cabin and the huge screen, its a crime to not have a backup camera standard in the 14's

Awesome! That's exactly what I want. I am going to get the bright white altitude, they now come with the factory camera. I'm glad to have your feedback.

Re: Grand Cherokee Altitude Your thoughts?

I think the "Altitude" should have been called the "Attitude".

Since its all Show & No Go. In other words, its all about appearance & not performance or substance.

Despite how it looks, it is little more then a Laredo underneath. It lacks many of the features available on the Overland or Summit. Heck, even a Loaded Limited has a better set of features.

But that's just my opinion.

I thought about the capability most of which is great for most of the conditions I will need it for. I think the altitude is the only model I can stomach as the upper trims are equipped with waaaaay too much chrome. Makes me wanna vomit. I will give up those features to lose the chrome.

Call me crazy but how a vehicle 'looks' is one of the key factors in my purchasing decision. The Altitudes come in at about $40k which for a similar price Limited the only main feature missing for me would be the transfer case (Unfortunately I am not a big off-roader so the Level 1 system is just fine) I like all the GC lineup, nothing wrong with the Laredo!

I currently don't have the money in my work car budget for the Overland, Summit, and certainly not the SRT. With 15k miles /yr the gas mileage can be an issue so the V6 run plenty strong. Same V6 as the rest of the lineup so as far as the 'go' is concerned, I don't see my Altitude as some sort of poser like you do.

Like you said, it's just my opinion.
