Bill, you could be on to something. If the Cherokee had bigger off-road tires and then a spare on the back gate, it might look more bada$$. But I do agree that the back gate does seem open and empty.

Perhaps during the mid-cycle refresh they will adjust the front and rear a bit since those are the two items in my view that if adjusted would really make this vehicle a huge winner.
I wonder if this would be a good time to mention the upcoming complete redesign of the Wrangler, into a softer, more sociable, vehicle?

I still find the front end hideous, but I don't really think the back of the Cherokee is that bad. I do find that on the road a Cherokee in front of me looks nearly indistinguishable from a Kia, so I guess I would say it's a little generic. But most crossovers and station wagons look pretty similar from that angle.

I'm not sure if the Cherokee look will grow on me or not. I got used to the current Mustang styling after seeing them enough, but I still think the slanted headlights on the GM trucks look terrible.

Re: Grand Cherokee is a winner....and Cherokee is too!

I really like the Cherokee. In fact, the reason I'm driving a Jeep today is the Cherokee. I never looked at Jeep, never thought about Jeep, never considered Jeep. Then the Cherokee. Not only do I LIKE the exterior looks (front is good, back is bland, but not horrible,) I also love the interior. The amenities are wonderful. I then tried it and decided it was too small inside. Because I was looking at Jeep, however, I decided to have a peek at the Grand Cherokee. More boring outside (IMHO), but also very nice inside and more room. I was hooked, Grand Cherokee in my garage, all because of the Cherokee. I'd say it's been a success for Jeep so far, and the initial quality surveys have been good too.

When my wife replaces her Prius in a couple years, the Cherokee will get a look, that's for sure.

The Cherokee is a fantastic looking vehicle IMO.

Come November, I shall be torn as to which set of keys I shall take each morning.

I have a similar story applied solely to the JGC. It's just awesome. Only owned imports until now with previous brand loyalty being Honda/Acura over 3 vehicles. Never enjoyed a vehicle more than this Jeep.

Yup, end of thread right there

Front looks like it was crushed by an elephant. Can't blame them for trying though, at least it looks different then everything else out there.

I disagree. I think the front end looks more like a rejected model monster for a Japanese animated horror movie--a monster with radioactive eyebrows.

Why, are the keys ugly as well?
