Absolute numbers are a fairly crappy way of looking at this. Using this methodology, I suspect the numbers will strongly correlate to number of units sold/on the road. I think the question people are asking is "what cars are more LIKELY to get stolen" or in other words, what cars have the highest percentage stolen.

Besides, we are only number 4.

We need to try harder.

If you need parts for a Jeep, it is quicker to steal one than get the parts from a dealer.

like wheels and tires...hmmm surprised they just didn't steal the whole thing when they took the wheels. left the brand spanking new brakes (r1 slotted) and the stereo there.

I need to try harder I guess so they can take the whole thing!

Re: Grand Cherokee Makes Top 10 Stolen Crossovers & SUVs

The article says the Ford Exploder has the best in class 350 lb-ft of torque. I guess the WK2 isn't in same class since the 5.7 Hemi and ecodiesel have more torque.

You are perhaps implying the Exploder is in a ballet or similar twinkle-toed owner class?

Re: Grand Cherokee Makes Top 10 Stolen Crossovers & SUVs

This will sound like a dumb question but I will go ahead and ask it anyway:

How are they stolen? They are not supposed to start without key fob present and I haven't heard any news about key fob protocol being easy to circumvent.

Do you think they were all towed away? I find it hard to believe.

Do thieves clone key fobs via dealer? Doesn't seem plausible enough in any significant numbers.
