Re: Grand Cherokee or Range Rover Evoque?

So we've come to the conclusion that the Evoque looks like a hybrib ofva mini ford edge being driven by kia hamsters that has a history of monthly mechanical problems and as much resale value as a house lined with asbestos

Nice!!!!

Re: Grand Cherokee or Range Rover Evoque?

Late to the party but if you havent sat in an Evoque, go do so. Its interior is bigger than you think. A little too girly for me though. Its Meridian sound system (the good package) is straight up bad ass.

Re: Grand Cherokee or Range Rover Evoque?

FWIW, a lot of people (myself included) gripe about the glass roof not opening in the Evoque.

Then I realized, I almost never open my moonroof. I do once in a while, but mostly I use it as a giant friggin window to let natural light into the car. And that's exactly what it's for in the Evoque. Realizing this, I could learn to live with it. While it does seem a bit odd at first, it means you get a giant piece of glass with nothing obscuring it.

Re: Grand Cherokee or Range Rover Evoque?

This comparison is not really fair. Each vehicle appeals to a very different market. As a case in point, I own a Hemi Overland. My 17 year old daughter has driven the car and enjoys it. She has no longing for the Jeep, thank goodness. But a mention of the Evoque and she swoons with desire. The Range Rover appeals to her and not to me. Go figure. She thinks that it looks great and the size works her. Right now Range Rover is trying to move inventory and it does look appealing as a car for her.

Re: Grand Cherokee or Range Rover Evoque?

Is she like some prodigy young partner in a law firm or something to be considering an Evoque at 17?

Re: Grand Cherokee or Range Rover Evoque?

Not a single post mentioning that gawd awful 4-cyl engine thrash when you step on the gas?!?! To each their own, but the Evoque was not even on the list when shopping for my wifes X3...oh wait, we had a RR...SHE was the one who finally said "when are you going to get rid of that POS?!?!?" And we did, the exact day the factory warranty expired. Ok, call it water under the bridge....
I got a call just before Christmas from the LR dealer in town.."come on down and drive the brand new RR, it is not even out yet but we have two factory cars for our customers to drive.." Not one to turn down a challenge, I went.
Drove a $121k RR Supercharged...Ghosts from the past began showing themselves. As I am looking out the side veiw mirror, I notice the accent trim piece that covers the lower rear window gasket is not alligned properly...it is just mismatched and evident in the mirror...Not a big deal to most, but for me, a sign that they still cannot get it right.
I happily got back into my Summit, took a look around and thought "where is the extra $70 grand in that vehicle"...maybe i am gettin old, but I guess I am missin something...!

Re: Grand Cherokee or Range Rover Evoque?

I've been lurking for a while now and I'm ready to commit. This post is very interesting for me and I'm torn between the x5/x6 and the JGC. I know their two completely different cars but did any one else seriously consider something else before buying their JGC? I know I'm gonna get flamed but thanks in advance.

Re: Grand Cherokee or Range Rover Evoque?

My Land Rover broke down again. This time the alternator. I'm stranded in Cortez, CO waiting for a new alternator to get shipped from Salt Lake. Yet another reason to get a Jeep instead of a Land Rover, parts. I'll bet there are 20 new and rebuilt GC alternators within 50 miles of me, but the closest Land Rover part is over 300 mi away. And I'm going to pay a royal sum to get it. My personal advice, run as fast as you can from anything made by Land Rover/Range Rover.
