Re: Grand Cherokee Trailhawk owners

The flat black hood decal comes from a long tradition of hardcore off road vehicles using them for anti glare on extreme climbing. The Power Wagon was the first to use them and still is a trade mark of it. I think it's appropriate Jeep included it on the trailhawk

My latest PW still has them.

Not questioning whether it is "appropriate" or not. I just dont happen to like it that much, but like the rest of the package. WOndering if anyone has exxperience removing it.

Some PW owners have. A heat gun works and the sooner it's removed the easier it is to do.

Exploring along the Utah / Nevada state line in my wife's Trailhawk, and caught by a late season storm.

Removed it on our 13 and day one on our 17. Can't stand it. Heat gun or leave parked in the sun is all you need. Start at one end and off she comes.

Easy peezy.

Re: Grand Cherokee Trailhawk owners

I wonder how difficult it would be to wax the hood without having wax build up around the decal edges...

Re: Grand Cherokee Trailhawk owners

Has anybody that's removed the matte black hood decal or wanted to remove it tried putting 3M auto wrap on the hood (matte white for instance if you have a white GC)? Then the hood would blend in better with the rest of the vehicle color, would be slightly less glare, and would help protect the hood from rock chips.

Nice pics! I picked up mine 2 days ago, still has less than 100 miles on it. I'll post some pics before long.

No issues. I use S100 or P100 that doesn't leave a white residue on plastic.
I actually wax the decal as well since this particular wax works great. Same on our Wrangler Freedom edition that has similar decal issues on the hood with the ragged big star.

You can find S100 wax at any Harley dealer.

Looks great! I was thinking to get that color since my wife has a red ford edge, but got the gray. I just saw the bright red one and man... If we have it in stick ill go for that bright red!
