So obviously something isnright about the Jeep SRT. One thing...can that SVR tow 7200 pounds? Does the rr sport have a tow rating?

Also....if u need offroad ability...why buy an suv?
You argument is flawed because your are projecting your personal preferences over the market choices. If you wanted a large American car that could accommodate a tall male occupant with a family, who likes a fast car, you could have purchased the CTS-V Wagon. Cargo ? Sure the CTS-V Wagon 58 cubic feet of space while the Grand Cherokee a little more, at 68.3 with the seat area.

Just as you seek some features in a car, we (four of us now - as I included myself) value other features such as off-road ability. Of no interest to you, I would have purchased a faster (but not a Hemi V8 - a smaller modern V8 or blown V6) Jeep with air suspension and low range gear box. I bought an SUV for off-road because I just don't identify with the Pickup Truck generation I also like handling, and comfort and style, and don't really care about 0 - 60 under 5 seconds in a 5000 lbs monster with garage door aerodynamics.

Jeep cannot make the same car do both off-road and smoke the track. Not that they lack the technical ability. Or because it would spend its days in the dealership's repair back lot. But because very few would want to pay 65-75,000 dollars on a Jeep, which would be the cost of that car. It doesn't command that kind of market demand to be a viable option, whereas it seems to not be a problem for LR/RR.

Who cares if the TrackHawk it will be faster than the RR SVR. You should know that there's always someone with a faster car. Next time you pull next to a RR SR, it might just be the oligarch kid who's boosting 20 psi on his RR SVR.

Jeep already offers the Overland with 3 engine choices. I don't really understand how that's a problem.

Sorry man. Your central states humor doesn't impress me.

Plus I have seen baby hippos fly. Singapore Airlines. I've seen rarer shit flying. Such as this Lancia Stratos a few years ago. Apparently they made 492 of them. They are a measly 400 - 500,000 USD these days.

A horse flying doesn't impress me much. Ba haha ha....ha

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

Never understood the point of arguing with people on the internet.

Just buy what you want and can afford.

I like SUV's that are quick. That's why my last 2 have been Jeep SRT's and probably will continue to be.

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

Well if there is one vehicle I lust over, it's the 2008 Audi Q7 with the 500-hp, 6.0-liter V-12 diesel engine. It was never offered in the U.S.

As far as Jeep goes, I absolutely love these WK2's. Keeping in mind that I came from a 2006 Jeep Liberty, stepping inside the base 4x4 Laredo E made my jaw drop. I always thought it looked and drove more expensive than it is. Although I have to admit something, I literally only drive in sport mode. It doesn't mean I'm racing everywhere, I just feel like I understand the vehicle better with those shift patterns.

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

I think the one area where Land Rover has Chrysler Jeep beat 11 ways to Sunday, is at their dealerships. Their service bay racks can get ANY Land Rover 6-1/2 feet in the air faster than anyone in the industry. Their dealership air compressor systems are second to none. Most can raise 6 Land Rovers simultaneously, which equates to minimal mechanic's downtime. No drinking coffee there. Those boys turn wrenches faster than anyone. They get lot's of time and practice.

  • Engine: 6.0L twin-turbocharged W12
  • Power: 600 bhp @ 5,000 – 6,000 rpm
  • Torque: 663 lb-ft @ 1,350 – 4,500 rpm
  • Transmission: 8-speed automatic
  • Drivetrain layout: 4-wheel drive
  • EPA-estimated fuel economy (city/hwy/combined mpg): 15/29/21
  • Curb weight: 5,379 lbs.
  • Wheelbase: 117.9 in.
  • Acceleration 0-60 mph: 4.0 seconds
  • Top speed: 187 mph

But of course... it is both slower and less reliable than the good old Jeep with a Hemi.
