Check out the WL section of this forum for engines offered on the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I've been driving for almost 50 years. 23 years of that was in and around the city of Chicago. In some of the worst blizzards, ice storms, sleet, and snow accumulation that city has ever had. I have never owned a 4 WD in my life.

Never once did I ever get stuck, or require a tow truck to get to where I was going. And that included 16 years of driving 30 miles each way to and from work, 6 days a week. Never once. Add to that I never bought a set of "snow tires" in my life. And much of that driving was on rural 2 lane roads, that didn't get the attention of snow removal like the limited access Tollroads and Expressways did, in and around the city.

Now all of a sudden, after I've been driving an additional 25 years in the desert southwest, where we never see a snowflake, and have gone 100 days without seeing a rain drop, I've got guys like you handing out "advice" that I somehow must have it, and was foolish not to buy it. The only thing 4 WD would have accomplished on my new Jeep, would be to not allow me to tow as much as I presently can with 2 WD. Which incidentally my 1991 Ford F-150 has had for the last 150,000+ miles. Again, never stuck. Never once. So if you don't mind, and even if you do, I'll let you keep your own advice, and waste your own money.
Do I need it? No, I've had 2WD cars before. But 4WD is objectively better even on dry roads and since the money is immaterial, it is a no-brainer.
