The current RR Sport Supercharged is faster than a WK2 SRT -in a straight line, not sure about a track- and can still go rock crawling as well as a Jeep. It is an impressive combo. You can't go wrong with either.

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

The SVR is a bit faster

But here it costs 3x as much

And if I wanted faster you'd buy the turbo Porsche or the AMG

The jeep did well, but was on the optional pzeros the svr did well too but wasn't on the optional tyres which it set the ring time on, would love to see some more hp in the jeep, 500 is a nice figure, then on the summer tyres I'd love to see them take it to the ring again and see what it'd do, the took the 5spd there, I'm sure a 2016 would be a number of seconds better

Pretty sure the SVR on the 22" summer tires beats all of those around the 'Ring as it set the SUV ring record iirc.

But yes it's about 1.75x the price of the Jeep...

Y just looked up some times - they're equal within a reasonable margin of error. On a track the SRT will almost surely win because of the sportier suspension - but the RRS can rock crawl so pick your poison.

Admittedly one could try Closed Captioning and tweak it for the useless Google translate...

Or if you want some of Vladimir Putin's eye candy in your videos...You might not even notice the cars.

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

I would absolutely rock a new Range Rover along with the above -referenced blonde. Alas, I am married and I cannot afford one new.

But I am surprised that nobody referenced Doug Demuro yet. For those who don't know about him, he purchased a used Range Rover from CarMax, complete with a warranty and in a relatively short amount of time, he started replacing most things electronic on the car. Free of charge. Here's his story:

My Range Rover’s CarMax Warranty Is Now Half Over And It's Saved Me More Than $6000

And if you read Jalopnik, you would have recently learned (within the past 2 weeks) that he has purchased a used Aston Martin. With a warranty thru Aston Martin.

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

Peeps,

I started a similar thread on the Range Rover forum site to get input from real owners over there as well. Your responses here have been very helpful. Thought you might be interested in the read of their responses to Grand Cherokee vs RRS. Interestingly, they are not bashing the Jeep but making real educated comparisons between the two. In fact, many were bashing on their own Range Rovers. Enjoy!

Re: Grand Cherokee vs the new Range Rover Sport

Sometimes I don't know where they come up with the idiots that write these reviews.

Grand Cherokee V6 Price as tested: $49,100
Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE Td6 Price as tested: $86,060
Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR Price as tested: $126,360

The $49,100 v6 jeep takes third place and they are complaining about it not having ELSD. But if they would have requested one with the V8 (or Diesel) for a lousy $3200 more than it would have had the rear ELSD they were bitching about and still cost $74,060 less than the SVR. The GC 5.7 is certainly no match for the SVR power but wouldn't it have made a little more sense to at least try to option the GC in a way that would bring it as close as possible to the vehicles that are, $36,960 and $77,260 more? especially since they are not just comparing them but rating them 1st 2nd 3rd and money appears to be absolutely no object at all.

My thoughts exactly! Crazy... I sure hope a vehicle costing 2.6x's as much would get a better rating!

Personally, a lot of RR's look dated to me. Granted I haven't looked too closely at the new new new ones. But I see many everyday here in Miami Beach. The Porsche SUV's are EXTREMELY popular here. It's like a luxury car show every day down here... Personally, I love the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summits ... just a great vehicle and a great value. The only thing that would make my eye wander is perhaps the Tesla X which I need to walk over to Lincoln Road and check out their showroom/store to see if they have one on display yet. Having to install a charging station thing would be a bit of a pain though.
