Ha. They gave me a hybrid alternator/flux capacitor so I can travel back in time! Sorry for the typo, not enough coffee and "listening" to my wife. 220a

I'm thinking all Diesels have the 220a alt and 800 CCA battery. Dis some searching and that held up. My '14 Summit V8 has the 180a/700cca setup and I have every option except DVD and CD.

Re: Group IV Tow Package

I think the ORA2 package includes the 220 which is why my V8 has it

Ya its weird. All V8 with tow are specd to have it and don't. The ORAll has not extra electrical goodies. All the ORAll does is harden up the vehicle...strange

^^^^

Ya know it just occurred to me that an ORAll equipped rig is probably thought to be running more accessories than a non-rugged model, right? That requires bigger alternator for extra stuff.

That makes total sense. What doesn't make sense is that there seems to be a point where Jeep switched the criteria in regard to what gets the 180 vs 220. Based on this thread, it definitely seems like earlier builds had more 220's than later builds. In addition, whats with the documentation from Jeep indicating that the 220 was standard on Overland, Summit and SRT? This must have changed without them documenting it to the public.

Re: Group IV Tow Package

Our 11/13 build V8 Overland with ORAII has the 180A alternator. I think the difference is that the V6 has electric power steering pump (not electric rack), while the V8 has a normal belt driven pump. So with all other things being equal, it will have a higher electrical load than the V8 normally anyway.

The information on the website IS pretty confusing.

And add to the mix that MY14 has an entirely brand new and different electrical CANBUS architecture which surely changes their algorithm on which rigs get 220/180/160
