Re: Guy has a lemon Jeep Grand Cherokee, makes a video about it

looks like a guy with too much time on his hands. spend the time and money working with a dealer to fix those problems (all under warranty) and he'd have vehicle running the way he wants and not 800k+ hits. clever video, little materiality to the whole thing. If you thinks this gets any discussion at FCA, you are wrong.

He should have used the lyrics to explain all he has had go wrong instead of just repeating the same thing over and over.

He's getting a ton of views for sure.

Re: Guy has a lemon Jeep Grand Cherokee, makes a video about it

YouTube has does have a pay per click via the ads for people that post videos, it may not be a lot of money but it is something plus the fame. It reminds me of each year's iPhone launch where someone claims some sort of "defect" which attracts attention and clicks on their video and the media just regurgitates the story over and over and over without any critical thought at all. Oh well, creative video even if lacking in substance.

Sure, things go wrong, they get fixed. In this case it sounds like the owner wants a refund, nothing less. Even though the issues sound qutie fixable. They interviewed him on the tv today, he said the dealer has an independent inspector reviewing the car to determine if any problems still exist, but the owner said it doesn't matter what the report says, he wants a refund, because its broken down int he past and he doesn't trust it anymore. I think that is a bit unreasonable. If its fixed, its fixed.

I want him to get that jeep wrecking ball out and smash it. Then he'll be jeep free and cash free....

The dealers really have to step up. The dealer we bought from was sold last year, while ours was being looked at for an ongoing oil leak from new. (Its been back 6 times, maybe we should have made a video) but the original dealer principal had another Jeep dealership nearby and was happy to look at the history of the problem and rectify there. What they worked out was completely different to what we had been told had been repaired / replaced. To cut a long story short, its no longer leaking oil, and for our trouble they offered us a free extended warranty.

Some dealers are obviously better than others.

Re: Guy has a lemon Jeep Grand Cherokee, makes a video about it

Jeep Australia posted a response to this on their Facebook page this evening. It's a fairly sensible response.

https://www.facebook.com/jeepaustral...79129262147000

One of the guys in the office linked me to the video yesterday and I admit I had quite a chuckle—this doesn't change the fact I've enjoyed 50,000km of trouble free motoring to date and I'm still thrilled with my GC after 15 months ownership.

Be interesting to see how this plays out and what his outcome is.

Re: Guy has a lemon Jeep Grand Cherokee, makes a video about it

What's this alignment problem?

I bought a new Grand Cherokee Limited 3 weeks ago. It pulls a bit to the left. It's going in for a minor job on Monday. Should this be addressed at the same time if it's a known problem?

Trouble is Benno he bought it in the Campbell/John's era, you know how helpful FCA was then. At least he didn't have to to get his reversing camera sorted.

Guy just wreaks of garbage. he got in over his head with a 60k purchase and now needs the money back, that's the reason he doesn't want it fixed.

I had major electrical issues with my 2014 Altitude on and off for about 6 months. So after dealing with Chrysler customer care/star and getting no where, i was fortunate enough to speak with a local regional manager from Chrysler in my area, and after reviewing my extensive file with customer care and star, he almost right away agreed to get me out of that Jeep. I had the option to choose any other Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler model, full refund or exact replacement (with extras @ n/c). I chose the same model, a year newer and he added on the Max care Lifetime Warranty (zero deductible), 7yr Mopar road hazard, 3yr Mopar service contract (12 free oil changes), Mopar rubber mats, tow package, backup camera/park sense and Navigation...all at no charge. I'm still not sure id consider Jeep again, but at least they tried to do the right thing. And all it took was one phone call and carrying myself professionally, while staying calm to get what i wanted as compensation.
