Hail damage

My Jeep was anhiliated over the weekend with hail. Every surface looks like a golf ball with the roof and hood obviously being the worst. Even the front/rear quarter panels and the chrome molding around the windows are all dented in. I have an appointment with the adjuster but I get the impression they are backed up is the earliest I get in is on June 4th. Anybody else have this? I wonder what Geico will pay for this.

Re: Hail damage

yeah thats bad sorry to say/

the panels like the hood even the roof are easily swapped. well roof more invovlved but not that big a deal.

its the things like a-pillars that cant be swapped......have to be repaired.

i was lucky and dodged most of it but we had sirens going off 3 days in a row in S Aurora

Re: Hail damage

There was some really, really, REALLY bad hail one county west of here last week during the time that a nasty storm line came through and many folks lost front and rear windows on vehicles in addition to the extensive denting of the metal. Some of the photos I saw were really heartbreaking in that respect.

I hope you are able to get things restored to your satisfaction.

Re: Hail damage

Sucks...the good news is that it can easily be repaired. The Prius we had before the 2011 was hail damaged, and was fixed 100% with PDR, no paint and you would never know (cost almost $4k). Never showed up on Carfax.

The 2011 JGC we just traded was hail damaged on the lot before we bought it. Also 100% repaired with PDR, and the chrome window trims were replaced as well. You also never would know, and it didn't show up on a Carfax.

Good news is it will be fine. I would take it to a PDR tech (a really good one) before you let a traditional body shop repaint it. The hood is aluminum, and some people say it cannot be PDR'ed but thats not the case with a great PDR tech. Hood on the Prius was aluminum...hood on the 2011 was aluminum. All repaired perfectly with PDR.

Re: Hail damage

Sorry to hear of your damage.

We got hammered in Chester County, PA.

My Jeep was in the garage, but my truck and my wife's car got beat-up pretty good.

Re: Hail damage

I think these jeeps have very thin sheet metal, mine is a golfball but other cars in the lot were fine. Mine is actually an "eep now, I lost the J on the storm.

Re: Hail damage

Where mine was parked there were several cars/trucks and an 05-10 Grand that were all dented up. Of course this all happened when I went to stay at my GF's. God forbid I ever had a storm when I'm parked at home in my garage. I'll let you guys know what the adjuster offers me. To me it seems like it has to be a lot with the roof, hood, both rear quarter panels and all the chrome around the windows dented. And that's what I've found so far. I really need to get it through a car wash and in to the sun so I can really document it all.

Hail, or one of those little bitty tornados that hugged right up against the foothills of the front range?
