Hang around the barber shop long enough...

Bought 2015 WK2 Summit, Granite Crystal, black interior, California Edition ( person who named this has to be young as California = CHROME ) and engine block heater.

Just learning how the car's goodies work. The automatic cruise control seems to work like a charm. I have set the distance at three bars and it kept the perfect distance between me and the guy in front. Running an iPod on the USB and an iPhone on the Bluetooth. Both seem to work fine. I love the album art on the USB connected iPod.

Nothing special about the Jeep that would differentiate it from hundreds of other dark gray Summits, except this one is mine.

Am thinking of getting some kind of cover for the arm rest so the dog doesn't scratch it up with her paws ( CLAWS ) as is the same with the dash in front of the passenger seat. Maybe a dash-cover although I never loved them.

Very sad moment to walk away from my 2012 Wrangler. Damn that Jeep. Loved loved loved it for around town. Hated it on the road trips. Getting older, comfort on the road trips beat out the fun around town.

Paul

Congrats!!

And I suspect that over a very short period of time, you'll back that ACC down to one bar. Three bars is great when there's no traffic, but when things heat up, you'll be suffering intensely from folks pulling in front of you and causing your vehicle to continually slow down.

My dog has a tendency to stand on the arm rest as well, or jump in the front seat. I just ordered one of these guys off amazon to hopefully keep her wedged in the back seat. Getting delivered tomorrow.

Amazon.com : Krunco Waterproof Hammock Pet Car Seat Cover-Black, Non-slip, Extra Side Flaps, Machine Washable Car Seat Cover for Pets : Pet Supplies

Normally I wouldn't mind her jumping around too much, but I have the New Saddle interior in my (new to me) 2012 Overland Summit.

Re: Hang around the barber shop long enough...

Just leave the dog home. I wouldn't want to risk ruining that amazing interior ;-)

Congrats on the purchase, you're gonna LOVE the Summit!

Mine is still on Max distance both ACC and Crash Prevention.

I find it still gets too close at some speeds.

I'm typically not in much traffic. It works fine in traffic though. More annoying is that it cancels in stop and go traffic.

Better than the older 2011-2013 adaptive cruise though. Those would cancel below like 20ish mph so using it in any sort of stop and go traffic was not an option. Atleast the 2014+ models will bring it to a complete stop which is cool.

Re: Hang around the barber shop long enough...

Taking a break from wash/clay/wax job #1 on the new Jeep. Every Jeep I have clayed new has had very little crap in the paint. Better than the last BMW and Mini Cooper I have clayed. Now the inclusions in the paint, defects, that is another story...

The bars don't really represent distance. They're actually a measure of time and distance (which relates to distance but changes depending on the speed). For example (and these may not be the actual times FCA is using...just a reference), at 1 bar you stay 1 second from the vehicle in front of you, at the current travel speed. So, at 20mph that equivalent distance will be shorter than at 60mph as you travel around 29.3ft in a second at 20mph and 88ft in a second at 60mph.

So the bars you're looking at represent a time and distance reference...not simply a flat distance. I'm also fairly sure the equation and settings they are using are not linear as the distance seems to level out at the higher settings.

Re: Hang around the barber shop long enough...

Peter, that's my experience...the physical distance varies with speed.

Dog mittens. Presuming the dog doesn't just eat them quicker than you can replace them.

Maybe a local leather shop could fix you up with a heavy leather stitched cover to protect it?
