A friend of mine and his wife, while driving in their 2012 GC, he handed her his key fob to her while doing something distracting. Then he dropped her off at the Burger King, drove 1/2 mile to the gas station and to gas up. Shut of the GC, and then it would not start.
NO KEY FOB! She had to hoof it from the BK to the gas station. Pretty mad. HA!
I bet she was angry because he did not hoof it to BK to pick up the FOB and back to the gas station to pick up the WK2 and then drive back to pick her up. His instinct was to make her walk instead, not very gentlemanly. Perhaps if they were still dating it would have been different .
was thinking the same thing. My wife takes it into the grocery store while I sit and listen to music sometimes. It gets real annoying listening to the beeping, I usually shut it off wait for her to get back.
So you can drive away without the key fob with just the beeping, and the only problem is starting it back up? I have not tested it. I did get dropped off on one occasion at the front of a building while the driver parked the jeep when I realized I had the key fob in my pocket.
I like to leave my g/f sitting in the copilot seat while the Jeep is still running. I'll walk into a restaurant to pick up a to-go order or something. Even though I'm only gone a matter of minutes, the Jeep chimes the entire time I'm gone because I'm a prankster and the key fob always stays in my pocket.
That happened to my mom she started the car with her sister in it. Turned around and went back into the house somehow forgot the keys in the house and drove a short distance to a strip mall to do some business and realized when she arrived that she did not have her keys.
After having to bring her the spare key I asked her if she did not hear the car beeping and told her it meant that the key was not in the car....
Well it hasn't happened to her since so I guess she makes sure the key is in her possession before she drives off.
Mine beeps the instant I'm more than a few feet from the wheel. It even beeps when sitting the back seat while in pocket. It's a very annoying beep and can't imagine driving more then a few feet not realizing it's not in the car.
