Has Anyone Ran Their Stock HEMI JGC Through The 1/4 Mile ?

I'm curious as to what a STOCK 5.7 HEMI Jeep Grand Cherokee would do on a pass in both time and trap speed? My first new car was a 1970 Chevy Nova SS with a 396 / 375 H.P. in it with a 4-Speed. I honestly don't think my 2015 HEMI Jeep is all that much slower.... If not faster.

The fastest it, (Nova), ever ran in the quarter was 13.97 @ 101 MPH. (I still have the slip). But that was with street tires, and a lot of wheel spin. It also didn't pull on the high end anywhere near as much as my Jeep does. (From 70 to 100+). I think the 8-Speed transmission, along with the 360 H.P. HEMI ,would make for a faster car, because of the ability to keep the RPM all but perfectly in the power band. With a 4-Speed stick you end up with too much rise and fall. Even with the old "close ratio" gears. Just curious if any of you guys have tried it?

I never have, but car and driver rates the 2014 V8 at 15.0 @ 93mph. Unfortunately by comparison to most cars at the track the Jeep would look embarrassingly slow. Then again it wasn't made to be fast.

Re: Has Anyone Ran Their Stock HEMI JGC Through The 1/4 Mile ?

Car and Driver lists the 0 - 60 time for the 2014 Hemi to be 6.5 seconds. My dream car as a teenage was the Lamborghini Countach. The 1976 Lamborghini 0 - 60 time was 6.6 seconds.

Things have changed!

They certainly have.... For the better! I remember my 1970 Nova SS 396 required 2,000 mile oil and filter changes. If you got 10,000 Mi. out of the plugs without it backfiring, you were lucky..... And you didn't dare burn anything but Sunoco 260 in it either.

Boy the memories. I had a new 1970 Camaro SS 396-375 back then, 4 speed, 4:11 posi. Along with the plugs needing frequent replacement, the solid lifters also needed adjustment often. Best time I could get on the stock tires was 13.7. But the Camaro was a bit heavier than your Nova. Those were the days.
However, I wouldn't put up with that today. I would have to have A/C.

Even thought I have the Hemi in my Summit, It's a bit of a slug compared to the Camaro.

Mine had no A/C either. In fact it didn't even have carpeting. Instead it had this faux carpeting that consisted of rubber molded to look like carpet pile. It had bench seats and an AM radio and that was it. No power steering, (real fun trying to parallel park). It did have power disk brakes with drum rears. It was a beast to drive. Back then if your car had a radio, heater, and whitewalls, it was considered "loaded". Mine was really "loaded" because the AM radio had push buttons.

Re: Has Anyone Ran Their Stock HEMI JGC Through The 1/4 Mile ?

I had looked this info up a year or so ago for the 2016's as i was curious to what the v6's GC's 1/4 mile with 8 speed was to my 06 Durango with 5 speed. The V6 is apparently 15.8s and the 06 Durango hemi was 15.6

I am pretty sure i looked up v8 2016 GC's 1/4 mile times as well and they were 14.6 or 14.8 stock.

The 8 speed makes those V-6s go pretty good.
