Good luck,

Ooooh man, it was the best ever! It was a manly steering wheel. First and foremost it was directly reminiscent of a Wrangler's wheel like I had back in the 90's. (3 prong, with vertical prong split into 2 segments) except it was THICK. Meaning, the circumference of the wheel (where you wrap your hand onto was thicker than any other vehicle I've ever driven.) It felt STRONG, sturdy and tough. Like a Tonka truck. It had a significant stance with perfectly placed button functionality all the while holding onto Jeep's rich history. It was IMPRESSIVE. It had lots of beautiful wood (considerably more than my '14 does) that got HOT as hell when the heated steering wheel was engaged. Everyone that ever got behind the wheel commented on how much they liked the steering wheel... much more than anything else on the vehicle which was why I was SO shocked they changed it. Ironically, Chysler is very proud of the newer wheel... They shouldn't be.

Re: Hate my Summit. You?

That mileage is not consistent with what I'm getting. I'll drive to LA and see it just above 20, then drop in city traffic, then work back up to somewhere between 17 and 18 by the time I get home. I always turn "eco" off (and wish I could set it to always be off).

This image reminds me of how much I miss the saddle interior color.

Re: Hate my Summit. You?

Agreed. I hate your Summit, as well.

As for your mileage, you either have a 600 pound right foot or you only drive one way and it is always uphill. I can beat that mileage in sport mode and thats without really paying attention. Either that or something is drastically wrong.

I rarely have movement behind my vehicle when backing.

I will presume you have never been in my area, as the A/C blows plenty cold [possibly a bit too cold] around here, but it rarely gets to 100 although it does go to high 90s for weeks in a row.

Possibly you have looked at wk2 jeeps to see if there are TSBs for some of your problems?

Although that not starting bit would be a bit of a drag and indicative of a serious issue--but looking on the bright side, it does keep you from burning gas.

I had BMW X5's for about 8 years prior to that vehicle and I became an overnight Jeep salesman. That car was wonderful... After such great experiences with the 2011 Overland I was just ITCHING for the 2014 Summit.
The difference between an overland and a summit is negligible, I would attribute most differences to the 14 vs 11 models. It seems that you need to update the software. The honks I believe are programmable and you can get the car to blink the lights instead. I avoided the summit specifically because of that saddle interior as I wanted black :-)

Re: Hate my Summit. You?

13mpg on the highway is pretty much not possible unless you are constantly speeding up, slowing down and passing. Usually extremely high/low mileage reports are user error.

Re: Hate my Summit. You?

Maybe the A/C compressor is messed up and sucking down MPG and not outputting proper cooling.

Re: Hate my Summit. You?

I also have been having trouble with my touch screen/nav/radio...the screen freezes or goes black....I've been to the dealer twice and have received alllll the current updates as of last week...unfortunately I'm still having the same problems....

I should have kept my 11 Laredo X....

Not sure how reading the manual would help with the gas mileage......
I agree. That was my avg in a 14 V8 Overland, most of the time around town in sport mode. And I don't drive like a grandma.

I averaged 20 mpg on a 400 mile highway trip in the same car.

Re: Hate my Summit. You?

Oh, and I'm not disagreeing that the problems are annoying….

but try those problems and worse in an 80,000 Mercedes GL550!

Within the first month: sunroof leaked, mirrors wouldn't fold, car would stall at stoplights and wouldn't start. It stalled once out in the boonies on me at a stop sign! Among other things. Stuff broke faster than they could fix it! I gave up and got rid of it.
