have we bought our last chrysler product?

After spending 2 hours on the phone with jeep customer care I think our 2014 grand Cherokee overland is our last new Chrysler product.

Bought the 2014 a few weeks ago and now I get a rebate card in the mail. I don't expect a check, but maybe a couple free oil changes would be nice. something. In addition, the dealer sold us a "mopar brake controller" which is still not in.

So customer care basically told us to pound sand. Flat out said they WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE SITUATION. Didn't even offer an apology. Also said the brake controller is a dealer problem and that is not something that can deal with.

So after buying 54 (yes 54) NEW Chrysler products since 1987 (between 3 of us). I think I finally am ready to walk away. and these included Challengers, diesel mega cabs, overland jeeps etc.

Just needed a vent.

Feel bad for you but this is kind of how it is. If I buy a car at 2.9 Percent and next Tuesday they come out with zero percent I am SOL. I know it sucks but this is the way out is or they would have people coming back every other week for the better deal.

On the bright side it is not thousands like the rate change. If they do it for you, they need to do it for everyone. But please feel free to discuss this more. I have certainly seen this situation lots before.... you should see if your dealer can help you out a little. They won't get anything from the manufacturer though.

The dealer is pretty worthless, they are a small dealer but quite honestly, I had to help them with the order process and available options etc.

At this point, it is less about the rebate and more about the "quality" of the customer care rep. She was less than professional and couldn't be more pushy about hanging up the phone.

Hmmm at the risk of overstepping... if this is a customer care issue I would look in the new vehicle delivery status thread and look for TAL??? There is a rep that is looking at these forums fairly regularly and you may wish to pm that person and see if they might have some insight into the issue.

Just my 2 cents but if you got a cranky rep that kind of sucks because they are there to deal with those problems. Sounds to me like she could have explained a little bit differently and you would have been at least a little bit happier with the outcome?

how do you like the jeep? that's the main question. those damn customer reps can be a pain from any company. and i think the rebate thing is a matter of timing, i don't think they send those out when a new model year is first released, they probably wait a few months to send them. i'd also really give my salesmen a bad time about it to try and get a few services out of them. if you've bought several vehicles from this dealership, then they should want to try and keep you happy

Thats on a local dealership level...as far as corporate goes...why would you (the Original Poster) think you're "entitled" to anything? You purchased a product and you were happy with the terms at the time...why is this any different than refinancing your home only to find out a month later rates dropped and it'll cost you to refinance...

The fact that you almost feel that your owed something is fundamentally wrong. Sales/Rebates are for one reason...to push the product, however, you were already done and booked. Your purchase was already logged last month, there 0 reason for Chrysler to take a hit...you (and I) wanted their new product ASAP we knew there would be rebates at a later time yet we jumped into it

Re: have we bought our last chrysler product?

So you've purchased 54 vehicles over 26 years and this is the first time you've found out that you could have saved some money by waiting? Lucky you! I bought some steaks last week from Kroger and they're on sale this week. Should I go back and try to get a refund?

I'm not sure why you would think that you'd be able to get the rebate after you've purchased the truck. Things go on sale all the time - do you always expect to get your money back afterwards? That seems absurd and a little, as others have said, entitled....

The other issue here is that you are offended by a bad CSR. That also seems overly sensitive. Again, if this is the first time you've gotten a bad CSR in all those years, you should consider yourself lucky.

I think you may need to lighten up a bit.

I am looking at this from the current experience perspective. When any of you guys have been pissed off about your experiences with CSRs or your dealer, you all like to vent.

All I was saying is sure maybe Viper is a little sensitive about this but who knows what the CSR said because we were not there. It is in fact the CSR's job to deal with this stuff. It would be like me being at a clients place and just walking out because I decide not to discuss or fix the issue.

On the other hand there will always be grumpy CSRs

One would think you would've learned after the 53rd time...

I agree with you that Chrysler Customer Service is as useless as Congress right now.

Viperdave, my opinion is that buying a Jeep (or any other Chrysler) is pretty much a hit or miss. With all due respects to the Jeep employees on this board, some are made well and some are made poorly. And, Chrysler is absolutely worthless. No one should expect Chrysler to do anything for them or to help them. The dealer, on the other hand, is the key to the ownership experience. A good one can make your life a little easier. A bad one can make your life a living hell. We'd all be a lot happier if we accepted 1) find a good dealer and develop a good relationship, 2) you might get a good car or you might get a bad car (although the odds of getting a bad car is higher with a Chrysler than with almost any other manufacturer), 3) Chrysler won't help you at all and you're on your own. Which gets us back to 1.

Re: have we bought our last chrysler product?

unfortunately it is a new dealership for me because the last dealer was discovered to be selling customer info.

I don't feel entitled to anything. but I am a firm believer in the squeaky wheel gets the grease. (I am an engineer). Lots of times with several companies, you can get something just for complaining. And is that right? maybe not... but its the way the world works.

We do in fact love the 2014 grand Cherokee, miles ahead of the 07 CRD we traded in.

Some of my infuriation is being out the money for the brake controller as I have no brake controller with no intended delivery date. (yes going back to the dealer for a refund on it).

As for returning things for lower prices. If you buy an appliance today, and next week its on sale, the store will honor the new price for you. FACT. This is mostly due to the ability to return the appliance and just rebuy another one.

I also should say my opinion of car companies and dealers in general is pretty dismal... but then again I also own a 6.0L ford... so that should explain a lot

Re: have we bought our last chrysler product?

Honestly.... cancel the order on the brake controller. the Mopar one is crappy (not proportional). Get a Prodigy P2 or P3. I tow all the time and I tried the factory one.... IT SUCKS if you are towing anything with any real weight IMHO.
