Yeah, me too.
The '12 SRT8 has been faster through the slalom than the Cayenne Turbo by a few tenths in one mag test I know of

What the heck did those Swedes do? It looks like they had it jacked up in off road mode, backseat had two or three peeps in it and they obviously had a bigblock chevy strapped down in the rear cargo area.

You dont just see tires folded to the rim without serious weight involved. They stated in the test it was overloaded, but it sure seems like an understatement.

And what about their own safety. No helmets, no suits.....

It doesn't hugely worry me. The myriad of other agencies that perform the same test found nothing wrong with it. Obviously, those guys have done something to cause the effect.

Re: Have you seen this? Moose test

My 2011 didn't pass a moose test, but certainly passed a deer test in the middle of the night a few months back. btw, in the video, why isn't the driver wearing a helmet or any other sort of protection? lol

Re: Have you seen this? Moose test

Seems strange to me the day it is released, Chrysler has already flown out there and witnessed the test to debunk it. I do not think weight is an issue at all, it appears that ESP has been turned off. If you take a closer look ESP is not even intervening at all to stabilize the vehicle. Look at the euro ncap test, it clearly shows signs of specific wheel braking to stabilize the vehicle.

Re: Have you seen this? Moose test

Did the test detail how/if the sandbags or other weight in the car was secured? I could see improperly secured/tied down cargo contributing to some significant load transfer during high speed cornering.

Re: Have you seen this? Moose test

If the vehicle was overloaded and the ESC was turned off (plus I suspect the suspension was in Off Road 1 position - look at the static photos, vehicle looks high when standing and in the turn has tire compression but little or no suspension compression) the vehicle performed particularly well -it did not roll over after this violent and unusual test.
The credibility of the "moose/elk" test is poor, no vehicle fails the initial avoidance manouver but just about all have some instability problems at the violent opposite change back to the original lane. Simply due to the driving procedure - same exit speed as entry (unusual in a similar real world emergency - you would either off the throttle and/or braking) plus the cross arm steering technique gives the driver a lot of leverage in the opposite lock situation. This is why it is used in car rallying ("scandinavian flick technique") and it is designed to unstable the suspension into oversteer.
If it is true that the ESC was disabled and the vehicle loaded beyond its registered GVM then I think Chrysler should sue these turkeys but having some knowledge of the swedish legal system; I would have to wish them good luck.
Just to add I can recall a prominant Swedish car manufacturer was accused of allegedly reinforcing their car bodies in crash testing advertising so horses for courses.

Re: Have you seen this? Moose test

How stupid are these swedes. They are overloading the car with 4 to 5 people and NONE have helmets on. If the moron driving did not correct the car at the right time it would have rolled and they would all have been injured, Seems a dumb way to prove a point and could have ended in disaster.
Jeep should sue their arses. I posted on their feedback the statement from Chrysler as their video is so dishonest. People viewing it need to know it is wrong.

Re: Have you seen this? Moose test

It looks to me that the Sweeds are in panic mode over the Jeep totally destroying the dismal sales made by their cherished Volvo and Saab.

Re: Have you seen this? Moose test

At first I was a little upset about the WK2, but now that I know what happened these magazine people are friggin idiots. What do they have against the new Grand Cherokee that they had to go and do that? So much so to put those people in the car at risk. I couldnt imagine the head injuries involved in a roll over SUV crash at those speeds. Not the smartest of people thats for sure.

Re: Have you seen this? Moose test

I think it's scary to see the car on two wheels as shown in the video regardless of what the condition really was during this test. You can't rely on consumers to follow the spec in real world.

But at the same time, I have no idea how credible this perticular website/magazine is. In a way, I'm glad this *potential* issue is surfacing online so Jeep can look into it.

I've also noticed that the test drivers were not wearing helmets, and that camera guy at the end of the turns were awefully close to car. If it had flipped, he would have been taken out.

Re: Have you seen this? Moose test

There have been many instances where journalists have rigged these sort of "tests." It's a little sickening. Not claiming to be an expert, the thing I noticed in stopping the video at various intervals was that the tires were compressed to the rims during the roll. You can't assume that every owner will always be on top of everything, but tire pressure, ride height configuration, improper loading, and deactivation of ESC could all be manipulated to achieve this sort of result. If you try hard enough, you can crash pretty much anything.
