Heavy Duty Brakes

Is the main difference between the heavy duty brakes and non-heavy duty the ability to stop sooner, given you maybe hauling a heavy load? My WK2 should have them, but is there anyway to truly tell if I have them or not? With my experience I had with the dealership I bought my GC from, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a fast one.

I understand they should be vented (disc?). Does anyone have pictures or can point me to pictures that I can see?

Thanks All!

Re: Heavy Duty Brakes

They do not necessarily stop sooner but they do resist fade much better, so you can ride them down hill longer without burning them up. As you mentioned, the quick way is to look at the rear rotor through the wheel, Compare with the rear with the front rotors. if the rear rotor is solid, its standard brakes, if its vented like the front brakes, its HD. All fronts are vented.
