Other vehicle brand SUV's list engine cooling components such as transmission fluid cooler, engine oil coolers, even power steering fluid coolers. What is a cooler? Just a fan? or an installed component similar to a radiator that the tranny fluid or engine oil circulates through for cooling. Is the Jeeps radiator bigger than than that of a Jeep without the tow package/heavy duty engine cooling?
Somewhere, somehow, this should be described. But where, I've googled it for hours and can't find answers other than some links to Australian jeeps with a little auxillary fan installed.
If I'm towing a 5000 lb trailer I would feel a lot better knowing that the engine and tranny fluids are not getting overheated and I'd like to know how that is accomplished. Can anyone answer these questions. I know there are many forum members out there that are just as confused about this as I am. Thanks in advance for some enlightenment!!
"What is a cooler?
", a cooler is a heat exchanger that transmits heat from one medium to another. In the automotive world it is generally a radiator or cooling fins. Open your bonnet and look behind the grill. You see a host of radiators, some hidden, and a fan. What exactly the V8 has, I don't know but the CRD has five cooling systems, engine coolant, engine oil, transmission oil, steering fluid, inter-cooler and air-con. The V8 would not have an inter-cooler.
