Re: Hell, itís easy to build an Overland!

lean manufacturing, JIT, Kiazen, 5s and the such was actually developed by an american by the name of Edward Deming. It took the philosophy to post war Japan where it was implemented in great success. The philosophy finally made it to the US in the 80's and 90's when th Japanese started building facilities here. One of them is about 50 miles from me where they build the toyota camry and a few other toyota vehicles.

I ordered mine 5 days after his allotment cycle ended for that month. Would I have been just as well off to have waited until his next allotment cycle was about to end before I ordered it?
My dealer told me that at the factory all sold orders are put ahead of all dealer orders that are not yet scheduled, regardless of individual dealer allocation.

Iíve often wondered how the transplant of Japanese work ethics to America is faring. What do you hear?

I'm not sure if thats 100% true because then small dealers would never see cars on their lot, compared to gigantic volume dealers cranking out sales.

Do I detect a challenge here?
Let's have at it. It's an interesting topic, particularly in regard to configuration/engineering changes/updates/recalls etc. I'd like to learn about the latest trends.

I'll throw this out: I think JIT is not easy for a new production line starting out with a significantly changed product. Like, what seems to be holding up 4X4, V8 Overland production?

Nothing is holding up anything except six figures of orders.

Is there a single dedicated production line for all Grand Cherokees? Do you know how many cars per day come off?

Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP) produces the GC and has since production started in the early 90s. they run about 700 car a day.
