Thatís about one car every two minutes. Is this on the new assembly line? I read somewhere that they set up a brand new assembly line for the 2011 GC because of unibody robotics. Anyway, assuming a build rate of 700 cars/day, it will take about 6 months to work off a 100,000 order backlog, which admittedly includes all the dealerís unsold inventory orders. And all the while, new orders are coming in. They might need a second line. Can JIT support all this sudden new demand?

I believe its only 2 shifts not three.. So assume its a 16hr work day.. Its more like 1 car every 1 min 40 seconds ;D

Milous also stated it should be about 900 a day if not already i believe reading in another thread.

I don't want to contradict you, but it sure looks like the V-6 production is slowing things up a bit. In the member status tracking thread, it sure appears that Hemi equipped vehicles are getting produced before those with the Pentastar, even with other equipment largely being similar.

Can you confirm this? I'm sure the engines are making their way in there as best the factory can crank them out, but that may not be enough to feed the demand.

If you look around dealer lots though.. Almost all in my area.. have TONS, of laredo base, lardeo X and a handful of limited models..

Its about time they get cranking on the Overland models..

A large volume Jeep Dealer in the NY region has 120+ 2011 Jeep GC on hand.. and 1 Overland is out of that 120.

May I ask why, and please give me a legitimate reason, for more than one assembly line for different TRIM LEVELS?!

The assembly line is not 100% new. Typical for a new model. What you can use stays, what needs to be replaced... gets replaced.

It's STILL not 900/day. Well, it may have been one or two days, can't remember, but it's most certainly not 900/day consistently. Not 16 hour work day either, breaks, dude.

Trenton Engine is only, last I checked, producing about 400 engines a day. So yeah. Trenton Engine is the only plant currently making the 3.6L.

Continuing growth of order backlog, while the assembly line runs at max production rate. How long will customers wait until they start cancelling orders?

When you order a vehicle.. The expected wait is roughly 8-12 weeks, or at least thats what your dealer should be telling you.. If you don't want to wait..you take a lot car!

I'll wait until the snow comes - 16 weeks. Then, I'll rent some 4X4 and wait some more.
