Re: Help decide 2014 GC Laredo w/All Weather vs. 2014 GC Limited with Nav

Thanks for the replies so far and keep them coming....

The Altitude isn't a consideration for me as most of the inside features are already included in the All Weather package since it is more than an E package vs. a Limited with NAV...

I agree generally with the get what makes me smile and get the features you want etc...I suppose my lingering doubt is that although it seems to me that the All Weather package Laredo includes most of the wants, heated seats, remote start, selec-trac, q2...it's what it doesn't have that I'm still wondering about...Will I really care that I don't have a back-up camera or the park assist or the bigger screen radio with NAV...and if I care are any of those features worth 1k each or 4-5k total...Ultimately the money is the consideration as in value for money spent...

I currently have a 2012 Laredo E package with Uconnect...or essentially a 2014 E package since they built in the uconnect now...I don't have heated seats, no selec-trac or q2, no remote start...so the new All Weather Laredo is a step up...and those features are to me definitely worth the expense...

Any insight into the NAV or the big screen radio vs 5inch, the back-up camera, etc...? It seems like for every argument in favor of NAV there's someone holding up their garmin for $200 bucks...The pluses for the camera are offset by "can't you turn around and look" snark...

First world problems I know...But advice is appreciated...

Re: Help decide 2014 GC Laredo w/All Weather vs. 2014 GC Limited with Nav

I accidently got the backup Camera when I ordered the upgraded Radio on the Limited to get the HD radio.

Gosh, I would have kicked myself if I missed that one.

I love the Dual Exhaust on the Limited 2014 (going away on 2015). Looks cool and sounds cool.

I love Leather Seats. Never used to. They are EASIER to take care of than cloth. That's why I get them.

You spill something, an infant pukes, spill coffee or something you are have that smell or stain it for the life the car. Leather just wipe and you are done.

I think there is a lot tiny things that make it feel like a luxury car vs std SUV.

I like the Nav, but wow the large screen is really nice. The small screen makes it look like 3-4 year old vehicle out the door. Same screen you'd get in a Viper.

The one thing, just one, that does not make me smile is the nav system. Its fine for around town type of stuff, but planning a long trip on it is like listening to someone scrape their fingernails over a chalkboard. I've heard it is Garmin inside, but it is nowhere close to my standby 6 year old Garmin Nuvi 750. An update to it is supposedly planned for mid-October, which will make what is on it now over 2 years old. We shall see what, if anything, is improved other than the mapping. If you need a nav system, plan on getting an external one for the heavy lift work. But just the nav issue would not prevent me with going with the LTD again. The BU camera is a worthwhile feature; it is not that easy, impossible actually, to see what is behind the GC.

I don't see how you're ruling it out when it includes the larger screen, optional backup camera, upgraded stereo, and parking sensors. Not to mention the painted lowers, 20 inch wheels, perforated suede inserts in seats, black headliner and dual exhaust.

IMO go with something YOU like and won't put you in financial strangle-hold.

Since the Altitude is out....go for the Limited if you have the money, you won't regret it. Go for it!

Re: Help decide 2014 GC Laredo w/All Weather vs. 2014 GC Limited with Nav

By the way make sure that, that limited has Factory Nav vs Dealer Added Nav.

The dealer software enabled Nav won't have a backup camera or HD Radio.

Don't assume the limited has the backup camera.

Not all limited's have 20" wheels either. I ordered mine so I would NOT get the ugly 20" wheels. Love is blind for which wheels you prefer. But most people love one and hate the other.

Limited's don't come with perforated seats unless added either. I actually prefer the non-perforated seats.

Re: Help decide 2014 GC Laredo w/All Weather vs. 2014 GC Limited with Nav

The reasoning on the Altitude is that I like the selec-trac and the q2 features of the All Weather package more than the back-up camera and radio of the Altitude/Security Package...The limited appears to do a good job of combining everything together of all of those features but it just comes down to a value question for me.

Thanks again

Yep - gotta decide if it is worth it to you. You won't regret getting the Limited unless you are really stretching your budget. Be sure to let us all know what you decide!

Sounds to me like you will be most happy with the Laredo with All Weather Group. Save some money and still get what you need/want that way.

Re: Help decide 2014 GC Laredo w/All Weather vs. 2014 GC Limited with Nav

Was in the same boat as you last year. Wife and I ended up with the Laredo E, no all-weather either. I added the factory hitch installed at the dealer. Worked for us since niether of us really would miss leather, sunroof, nav, etc. We wanted blindspot over the camera, but they really buried that one in some crazy options and we were never going to option up for that. I bought knowing i was going to change the wheels, front chrome trim, tow hooks, remote start, and a couple other things afterwards anyway.

The plan was for this truck to hold us over until the kids get a little older, and then move into a 3 row CUV for the wife, and i take this as our household bitch truck. along side my fun car. So the jump to a limited didn't make sense. thats how i made my choice, but there were some long term plans influencing it.

I also wanted the all-weather, but that would had to have been ordered, and added more than I needed. So my savings was a little more than yours also. After a year of experience, that knob looks nice in the console, but i have been on beaches, up parking lot snow mounds, through a trail to a creek on our property in the adirondacks, decent grades, but nothing overly technical, and with the 20's on there. No issues.

It never hurts to "well, I really like the Limited, but the price is just a bit too high, hint hint hint" on the test drive.

Unless you have a neck like an owl, I'd make sure you get the best backup camera and lane warnings you can get.

I like the '14, but after coming out of a ZJ, the new GC is like driving around in a slitted bunker. Not the greatest visibility in the world by any means.
