Re: HELP!! Meguiars Tire Shined Stained My Painted Trim!!!

Oh man...I just bought the same thing but in an aerosol can, to be used on my white Summit and my white Kia Optima. Not sure if it's the same chemicals or not, but now I'm worried to use it the next time I wash my cars.

Re: HELP!! Meguiars Tire Shined Stained My Painted Trim!!!

To to OP. Happened to mine the first time I used a tire shine that slings. They completely went away after a month or so. Really pissed me off at first though. Tried everythingn to get them off, but nothign worked...except for time.

I now spray tire shine on, let it sit, then wipe it off with a rag. I like a clean, matte finish, so this method works well. If you like a deep shine, i'd spray it on and try to wait at least an hour to let it set in. overnight would be better.

The main issue I've had in the upper midwest are little rust colored spots the size of a pen dot that appear all over the vehicle. I've had this problem on several newer white colored cars I've owned, and while it comes out after using a clay bar, it's very annoying. The average Joe wouldn't notice it unless you really inspect the white paint. Not visible on other colors from what I can tell.

That's what's been termed as "environmental fallout" for those of us that get our roads salted in the winter. It is noticeable on any color vehicle.

It will come off using one of those nylon mesh bug removers. It works well for me because I don't want to spend the time dinking around with a clay bar.

Its been over a week and I have noticed that the yellow has faded out a good amount already. Thank you greatly!

Mine disappeared after about 6 weeks. Just be patient and it will fade completely.

Re: HELP!! Meguiars Tire Shined Stained My Painted Trim!!!

Something similar happened to me with this same product on my wife's G37. I previously used the purple gel version of this, but happened to buy the spray this one time. Some overspray got onto her painted wheels and stained terribly. I was able to get some of it off with Mother's Aluminum Wheel Cleaner (which you prob can't use on your paint) and using a Magic Eraser on the rest. That got most of it off, but was a huge pain. Needless to say, I no longer use that product. My go-to is Adam's Polishes VRT. It's a cream, so it goes much cleaner (no overspray) and doesn't sling off at all. You really can't go wrong with any of their products.

I used to think the same thing.
Then with the POS OEM Michelins, every time I accidentally rubbed a curb it would leave a nasty brown 'smudge' on the sidewall.

The only way to get rid of it was to use some of the 'tire shine' stuff.

My Goodyears don't do that, but now I like the 'black' look. I try to use very minimal chemical. I don't spray it on the tires, I spray it onto a sponge/rag and then wipe it onto the tire.
#1 - no overspray
#2 - minimal application
