Angry HELP!! Meguiars Tire Shined Stained My Painted Trim!!!

I just purchased my 2014 Overland this past Wednesday and on Thursday I applied Meguiars High Endurance Tire Shine I only have 60 miles!!.. I let the product settle on the tires for several hours before driving.. after driving I noticed some black dirt spots and when I wiped to clean my wheel well trim… underneath the dirt I see that my painted trim has been stained yellow.

I called Meguiars and was instructed to use 50%water 50% alcohol and it should remove the stains.. that did absolutely nothing.. I called the same Meguiars representative back and told him that it didn't work..He said he will send me a compound that should take the stains off.

I figured in the mean time that I go to a high end superior detail shop that is the very best in South Florida.. The most advanced compounds were used and the stains did not come off. I called Meguiars back told the same representative that professional detail shop was unable to remove the stains and he told me to wait for his compound to come in and if its doesn't work after I try 6 times.. than the situation will be escalated to quality control!

There were stains that came off the door.. the shop told me it was metal and it came off super easily.. the painted plastic trim including some stain on the side skirts won't come off.

HAS ANYONE HERE EVER GONE THOUGH THIS?!?!?!?! HELP!!

THIS IS THE FRIGGEN Meguiars High Endurance Tire Shine That Caused This.. They sell it everywhere...

Nice.
Not helping your situation, but I know our friends at Adams tire product does not require a setting time and will have no fling off.

Re: HELP!! Meguiars Tire Shined Stained My Painted Trim!!!

I'm sure this has been posted about previously regarding the same colour Grand... and I think the same product. Apparently the word is marks will fade out?

It was about 3-5 months ago, so the previous victim would likely have a success report for you. I hope it's good news.

Regards,
Steve

Re: HELP!! Meguiars Tire Shined Stained My Painted Trim!!!

I've been using the exact same Meguiar's product for years and never had a problem. I'd have to say I never put it on heavy enough to run, but will drive my vehicle right after application and get no spray. Were your tires cleaned well before the application? The spots may be from something on the tires that the Meguiar's loosened up. I hope you can get the spots off your paint, but I really don't think they were caused by anything in the Meguiar's product.

A bit of hating going on in here, and no advice of a final outcome... but you could PM the guys and ask how it panned out.

2014 white srt owners please read

There's actually a ton of it going on around the place from what I saw when I Googled...

Cheers,
Steve

Are you sure that's from the tire spray. If it sat for several hours it should have dried. Could it have been something in the road that you drove through?

Re: HELP!! Meguiars Tire Shined Stained My Painted Trim!!!

I've used the same tire shine. Rarely it will fling off onto my paint but when it does it always wipes right off. This has to be something on your tires that mixed with the tire shine then flung off.
Make sure your tires are clean before dressing them. I use Megs APC+ diluted 4:1 with a bristle brush then allow the tires to fully dry before dressing them. I hope you are able to remove the staining.

Re: HELP!! Meguiars Tire Shined Stained My Painted Trim!!!

This exact thing happened to me about six months ago on my white Summit. I tried everything, and nothing took it off.

My advice is to take a deep breath and wait. It will take a while - I think mine took about 2 months until it was completely gone, but it will eventually fade completely away. Believe me, I know the sick feeling in the bottom of your stomach when you see it at first, and I wish someone would have just told me its NOT permanent!
