Help needed locking rear seatbelts

I am going on a trip tomorrow and bringing my dog. I purchased a safety tether for him that attaches to the rear seatbelts, but requires them to be locked. I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I tried looking for this in the forums and couldn't find it anywhere

There is no way of locking the rear seatbelts as they are of the inertia reel type. I can't see how connecting the tether to the belts as shown in that picture would be of any benefit, or even safe.

Likewise for using the coat hanger clips in the other picture. The Jeep's are plastic and look like they wouldn't take much force to snap them off.

Your best alternative would be to look at the child safety seat tether points that are located on the back side of the rear seat. You can access them by folding down either side of the rear seat. Those seem to be the strongest anchor points, and for obvious reason.

Another would be the cargo tie down rings on the floor behind the seat. I still think the child safety seat tether points would be stronger though.

Thank you so much! I will try this!

Re: Help needed locking rear seatbelts

Pull the belt ALL the way out as if you were buckling it over a very large person. After pulling it all the way out you'll notice that as it retracts it won't allow you to pull it out (it locks) again until it fully retracts.

This works for the rear belts in every car. It's for child seats.

For the application in the picture, you'll need to use the cross strap to keep them from fully retracting or maybe just snap them into the buckle after fully extending them. Hope this helps.
