Re: Hemi on restriction?

It's not any different than any other company really... it's just that Chrysler hasn't had a vehicle where demand exceeded supply for quite a while.

And the wait does suck, that's for sure. My order was stuck in C status for 4 weeks before I moved to D... then in D another 2 weeks before D1. Once the build starts though, things move quickly.

It also depends when your order is placed. For example, I placed my order the first day the 430N radio became available (July 15). That was also the first day allocations opened that month... but those allocations were for September builds. Orders for the current allocation period are for November builds. Vehicles built quicker than that are the exception.

Regardless of what your dealer tells you, expect 8 weeks. If you get it sooner, that's a bonus.

Re: Hemi on restriction?

Ok so does this mean the order I placed last week is delayed? Overland 4x4 with Hemi and saddle brown.

Re: Hemi on restriction?

Nothing really suprises me anymore. Chrysler said my Overland would be delievered on 9/30 by 8am after almost 40 days in storage. Guess what it is still sitting in storage and nobody knows why. I ordered on 7/7 and it did not get built until mid august. I am really quite ticked off and might dump the whole thing. On a positive note the dealer here in Northern Michigan is great. The sales manager gave me his Laredo to use.

Don't dump the whole thing. It will be worth it. Great for the dealer to do that for you.

Re: Hemi on restriction?

One thing hasn't been considered, and it's the V6 vs V8 economy thing. There may be too many Hemis rolling out, and that would disturb the required overall economy status of all builds. Perhaps it's not just the Overland, but the backlog of V6 production caused a bump in the plans???

Heads-up thinking, and a reminder that the time is disappearing when we can buy decent-sized vehicles with decent engines. Grab 'em while you can, and treat them well 'cuz they won't be around much longer.

You may be right. The Combined Automotive Fleet Economy (CAFE) standard require a certain fuel economy over the entire fleet of vehicles. A high percentage of HEMI's may be bringing them too close to the limit.

Re: Hemi on restriction?

Is it safe to assume if you order, you'll have it within 8 weeks? Or is it taking longer then 8 weeks for some people? I don't mind waiting two months, that is how long I waited for my last car as well.

If it was restricted it wouldn't have been able to be placed into an order without it being greyed out on the screen showing a restriction.
