Hemi on restriction?

Ordered an Overland Hemi 9/20, but 25P Preferred Package (Hemi) was listed to be on restriction. Called dealer today who said it is still on restriction. Anybody else dealing with this?

Yes, I've also heard that V6s are no where to be had but the Hemi is readily available. The Hemi is not new by any means and is a standard production engine for many Chrysler products so I'd be surprised if that was the case.

OTOH, I would not be surprised if Overlands were on restriction -- they've been very slow to appear at dealers and I still don't have mine which was ordered on June 21st!

Ordered mine on the 21st and was told the same thing. I hate to hear they are still restricted.

I called jeep (not the dealer) and they said as far as they know there are currently no restrictions on the 2011 GC???

Anybody got some inside info on the deal......

I wish they would get this stuff under control.....I'm ready to see my baby!!!

I was so fortunate to get one off the lot with all what I wanted...no ordering and waiting as is usually the case here in Canada.
I also thought that US dealers generally carried such huge stocks that most buyers were able to get what they wanted from the lot.

Used to be. Not anymore. With the recent problems in the auto industry, the dealers have really been trying to pare down the stock they hold. While there's always some big dealers who have tons of stock of some models, that is really no longer the rule. If something is popular, that keeps things that much more strained.

I imagine this weekend a buyer could go out and take home a WK2 with a Hemi, but that person is going to need to be flexible on trim level, color, and options. However, if you wanted something that moves in volume (like a full size truck or regular passenger car), you would stand a much better chance of being able to get it nailed down much more specifically.

I just ordered a new one yesterday. At least that is what the dealer said. I put down $500. Blackberry, V8, saddle interior....

I feel very uneasy about the whole process though. I didn't really get to choose options other then the color, because the dealer doesn't know anything. Its OK with me because all I wanted was that anyway. He said it will take probably 2 months to get it, and in three weeks to call them and they'll get me the VIN. Just worried because now I read this thread.

I realize that this could threaten any warranty coverage on the dash, but feels like one might try a DIY and pick your own adhesive vs. wait for replacement dash(s)?

There's an abundance of Laredos and Limiteds in CO dealer lots.

Because I was planning to buy across the border in Michigan, I checked dealer inventory within a 25 mile radius of 48363 and the numbers were huge. Some dealers have over 30 on the lot. Most were Laredos , few Limiteds but almost all had at least 2 Overlands.

I've been told by dealers that what shows up in their online inventory is what's on their lot AND what's been ordered. Specifically, when I called to confirm that the two overlands on their website were actually on the lot, I was told that no, they were on order but the dealer didn't have any control of their inventory page.

I've seen them say "In Transit" on the sites (or at least some of the sites) when they're not on the lot

My understanding is that dealer orders are not being picked up unless they are a confirmed sale (at least for the Overlands).

This means it will be tough to buy off the lot for a few months. I have seen a couple of Overlands on the lot, but they were early models that did not include Quadra-Lift. The other strange thing is that virtually Overlands reported on-line in dealer stock seem to have rear DVD.

as of when, are you saying that for us (the last month or so) that ordered it will not be placed until January?

I ordered my Overland with hemi, and adaptive cruise control, TWO WEEKS ago. I'm still in C status with not even a VIN.

It doesn't quite work that way. The allocations aren't that specific. There are a set amount of each model available to order each month (based on how Jeep has ordered the various parts needed for each model). It won't really make a difference that Saddle opened up for order this month... Saddle and Mineral Gray opening up for order is what may have pushed the Overland allocations to the limit so quickly in the first place.

When they start making them again, I'm assuming that those of us who ordered last month will have priority over those that ordered this month.... Right?!?
No wonder this company needed bailing out!!!
