I had a '12 hemi and I really loved it. When we were coming home from a vacation I was going 95 without even noticing it so IMO the speed is fine.

Sounds like there is something wrong with your vehicle. If it's so bad, I would have a dealers service dept look at it.

Re: HEMI owners Please

If coming from a SRT8 you will have to go with the 5.7. I had a 2006 WK with the Hemi and it was full of problems. Mainly the transmission not being able to make its mind up, the bad ETC delay and the MDS 40mph annoyances. I was away from Jeep for a while and was in a 4.0L V6 4Runner. When going to the Jeep dealer I was 100 PERCENT getting a 5.7 WK2. I drove the WK2 Hemi and power seemed like the 06, did not wow me but it was for sure there. Then I drove a V6 and was wowed. I think because I expected it to be a TURD. Both Jeeps were right at the same MSRP (Hemi model did not have ORA1 Pkg or power lliftgate) and I went with the V6. I never got over 16.5 mpg on my 06 so I went with Pentastar as a DD. Neither is better, they just have different advantages and disadvantages. For you, coming from an SRT8...you have gotta go with the Hemi. Try the Pentastar for the hell of it just to say you did and you know what both have to offer. I like the German sourced trans in the V6 and really happy with how it acts!

Re: HEMI owners Please

I am wondering if you still have the SRT8 or the insurance took it since it was a total loss. You can pretty much make easy money on this forum selling parts as a lot of us hemi guys are trying to make ours look like your SRT8 lol lol. I am local in NYC and would be extremely interested!!!

Re: HEMI owners Please

The Hemi when I first drove it didn't seem that impressive. However, the vehicle drive-by-wire adjusts to your driving style and this could account for how great my WK2 feels with the Hemi compared to what I test drove early on. When modern engines are cold the computer is supposed to restrict full output in order to protect the engine.

This drive-by-wire is where the Hemi is hampered as I believe they intentionally programed it to roll on throttle gently when flooring the accelerator from a stop; it seems slower than the math dictates how it should be. Alternatively, moving along and then punching it seems to enable 100% of the available torque on tap and I can hit 100mph in short order. Just my take on it.

Re: HEMI owners Please

Hi all
Thank you for all the input..

To answewr one of the questions i saw about my srt8...I sold it to a NJ auction guy/dealer. for a gain actually even tho it was smashed.

I got the srt8 at a rock bottom low of 57k

anyway back on topic...I have decided to wait and order a 2014 cherokee limtied w hemi.

My dad has the new 300 with the 8 speed and its amazing..it really is.

So ill just wait until Jan and order the 2014 with the 8 speed tranny..and other nice upgrades....new head unit and led lighting.

guess I can be a lil patient and wait a few months for a more advanced vehicle.

Anyone having doubts or think the 8 spd will be no diffrenet ,,,trust me its an awesome tranny that will improve performance ,drive quality, and economy by alot.
