I ordered the new WK2 SRT8 (delivery in Oct.) after I checked out a few GC WK2 models at the track.

The new WK2 body looks slicker and the interior is pretty impressive with the leather and fine finishings......

My question is:

How do you compare the WK1 to WK2 as far as quality?

Not trying to start a war here, just that this would be my first Jeep in a long time and wanted to know from you guys about the improvements from the previous model (WK1)

Thanks.....

P.S. Since the WK2 SRT8 is not out yet, I coulnd' t ask for opinions in that forum...

I'll start by saying I own and LOVE my WK SRT8....

the WK2 and chrysler re-structure is based around fit and finish and quality improvement.

The WK2 has superior fit and finish, and I would expect it to also have more overall quality.

NOT to say the WK doesnt have this, it does.... but not to the level that the WK2 was taken to.

My wife and I traded in a '06 and to me I really liked that body style over the previous one. Then she saw the commercials for the new one and what sold her was the Saddle interior. Jeep is a great company and has made a very beautiful vehicle. I see alot of good improvements, like the FCC and the ADCC and ov course the bigger moon roof. It seems to me that they paid more attention to what the consumer wanted and put that in the vehicle. Very well done just can't wait to get home nad drive the wifes as she has had it since mothers day and I have been deployed so my first look and drive will be the end of this month.

I'm sure others will chime in with what they feel is different between the two.

I'm on my 4th consecutive GC:
1994 GC Limited V8
1998 GC Limited 5.9L
2002 GC Overland 4.7L HO
2011 GC Overland 5.7L

Sorry, never had the Wk. But, by far the WK2 is the best Grand Cherokee ever made. The overall fit/ finish, seats, suspension, features and on and on....just way above other Jeeps.

My Jeeps were always my "back-up" vehicle, mostly for utility with some luxury. This WK2 could be a stand alone vehicle for me (but I still like a variety). It has the utility but feels and drives like a luxury vehicle. You won't be dissapointed.

I haver a wk and the quality of materials, fit and finish are worlds apart. IMO....the wk2 is world class. I have ownerd and do own luxury vehicles and the wk2 ios right there with the MB, lexus and bmw.

I'd have to agree with Scott. I've had (and have) a number of BMWs and so far my new Summit has demonstrated fit and finish quality at the same or better level. Absolutely love it!

The one area where my expectations are lowered is in the area of service. I've also had a previous JGC and I can tell you that the service department at my local Jeep dealer is definitely not on par with the service department at the BMW dealer we use.

As long as you love your new vehicle, that's all that matters. The hardest part is waiting for your WK2 SRT8 to arrive. This long wait can sometimes eat through your brain LOL.

I'll give you an Aussie perspective, we're very multicultural with our vehicle tastes here, have been for years.

I feel the actual body of the WK was very nicely built, comparable to anything really.
I find the interior quality and design average, and the plastics quality poor. WK2 is a massive improvement there.
The driveline is good, however more attention should have been paid to the mid and long term servicability of some suspension components, its nearly as if some of them are just too small for the vehicle's role.

*** Keep in mind our WK1's were built in Graz, Austria, so may differ slightly in areas such as paint quality (for the better I've read).
