HID install

I have done a bunch of searches and haven't found a full write up.. Anyone have one, from beginning to end, a write up on how to do the conversion from standard halogen to HID on a 2013? I want to do it, but when it comes to electrical stuff, I just don't really trust myself to do it right unless I have a full write up..

Thanks.

Re: HID install

There is a harness that I bought from someone here that should make it plug in play. I haven't installed mine but keep searching there are plenty here

Re: HID install

Are you looking to install an aftermarket HID kit or are you going to replace the headlight housings with OEM HID housings?

Re: HID install

There are many conversations about lighting up in the Interior/Exterior/Visual area at the top of this WK2 forum...if there isn't a full "how-to", there likely is a lot of other useful information that could help you with this.

Re: HID install

Not a full conversion but do the xenon depot swap.

In that case, a full step by step is not needed. The included instructions are more than adequate. There is no cutting or splicing, just simple plug and play. The only issue is accessing the bulbs in the headlights. There are plenty of descriptions and advice in the lighting threads. For the passenger side just disconnect the two large cables from the heat sink and swing the heat sink out of the way. For the driver's side just remove the air cleaner box. Doing these things will give you just enough room to get the job done.

thanks for the info. TBH, I was a little apprehensive bc I tend to shy away from doing electrical work, but you and the other boys make it seem not so bad.

Thanks.

Re: HID install

It's not bad at all. And there really is no "electrical work" to be done.

That was the fear and glad it isn't the case...Now, just need to come up with the scratch to buy it..

Oh, one other thing... someone else mentioned a harness for sale that made it plug and play but you also said it was plug and play without mentioning the harness that is for sale.. Just wondering what I am missing.

Thanks.

Re: HID install

The XenonDepot retrofit kit comes with it's own harness. If you were going with OEM HID housings you would need a custom harness from Jeep_addicted.

Re: HID install

I did a write-up for the Xenon Depot kit...I'll see if I can dig it up. It's not hard, but not exactly plug-n-play. Great kit though, I love it.
