High Altitude - End of Year Deal - Thoughts?

Hi All,

Been lurking for months, first post. Been going back and forth with the local dealer on a 2015 HA for EOY pricing (books close on 1/4/16) Here is what's on the table so far:

White High Altitude V6 4x2
NOT HK Stereo

MSRP: $47,085
Discount: $2,380
Rebates: $3,500
Net Price: $41,205

I'm looking to do a 39-month Lease, for 18K miles/yr.

Money Factor: .00081
44% Residual
$0 Down - $670.22 monthly payment

I was originally looking at the same HA but WITH the HK audio, but the other Jeep dealer in town wouldn't release the vehicle, so they have this one coming in without the HK early next week.

2 Questions:

1) What does the forum think about the total price? Should I push for more?
2) How big a difference is the HK stereo?

Thanks All!

I'd push for more, or I wouldn't take it.

You're at 5% off MSRP, others here, including myself, have gotten 5% off invoice on 2015s without trying much. I don't have the HA invoice, but I'd guess the 4x2 is somewhere around 44k invoice, so you'd be aiming at 5% off that before the rebates, and you'd be around 39 after them.

If they want to sell it as an "end of year" deal they should make it a "deal" for you.

I'm sure someone else who has bought the same vehicle will be along to provide concrete numbers for you.

You should get one with HK stereo (it's much better; I've had both), and price you want to pay with HK would be $40,400. Without HK: $39,800. I paid below employee pricing plus rebates for my HA a month ago.

What would be a killer deal to buy a V6 HA 4c4 with HK? Seems most dealers in the area have their internet prices in the 44ish range.

Re: High Altitude - End of Year Deal - Thoughts?

Dealers here in Portland Oregon have discounts up to $7000 off overlands. You should be able to get that off an HA as well.

I have the $500 off jeep bonus cash postcard from the mail. That comes off the best deal I can negotiate, correct?

Must be a regional thing but here in va certain dealers are leasing the v6 HA for under 400 a month. This was earlier in Dec don't know if it's still going on.

I got that exact configuration.
MSRP was $50,880
Invoice was $48,723

I paid 5.8% below invoice which was $45,901 less $1,000 rebate = $44,901 + $199 doc fee = $45,100.

I thought it was a great deal at the time with only $1,000 rebate then, back in mid November.

I got excellent top end KBB trade value for my 2012 4x4 Overland Hemi which was $29,000. I paid cash (wrote a check) like I always do for the 4 new Grand Cherokees I've bought over the years.

The fine print on that one had to be interesting - 8999 due at signing?

You mean $45,100, right?

2 year old JGCs are the most interesting phenomenon to me, coming from leasing other brands over the years the fact that most people have equity in their GCs after 2 years completely boggles me.

I've only ever bought one car off a lease, my wife's Ford Fusion, and I think it worked out only because Ford forgot to carry a number or something -- The residual was $7k less than KBB value at the time.

I've had my GC for 2 weeks and I'm already ready to start shopping for the next one knowing that I should actually be in a position to trade it in 24 months and have positive equity before my 36 mo lease ends.

It's not a good idea to have any form of "down payment" on a lease. All that means is that you're pre-paying part of the capital cost...the lease is still going to cost you the same in the end. Fees and state taxes...yes, not much you can do about that, but a zero-down lease is what's usually best to shoot for.

I do agree with others that 2-5% below invoice is doable. The HA might not garner the same discount as a straight Overland because it's a special edition and quite popular, but it should still be available for a decent discount. Pretty much "anyone" can get 1% under invoice just for being a member of certain organizations or with an employer benefit (affiliate discount) and negotiating lower is quite common.
