Re: High beam lights in auto mode?

Maybe I'm way off, but are you trying to enable the auto high beams in an area where the sensor might be picking up light from another source? I'm only asking because my summit sometimes doesn't turn on when I'm in a parking lot. I'm assuming it's sensing light from the light stanchions. Try a very dark area.
+1
It has to be completely dark for the auto mode to work. My high beams actually turn off when there is a reflection from the big road signs, especially the yellow "no passing zone" facing my way from the left side. It turn them off also if the cars in front of me are far, far away. But if you are in country roads in complete dark works perfectly.

I think I read something in the manual about speed too. I think you have to be above 20 MPH before high beams will auto activate? Not sure if I'm remembering that 100% accurately.

Re: High beam lights in auto mode?

Again, thanks for all the responses/input! I'm going to have to have the dealer check it out - the auto dimming high beams do not work with the light switch set to auto. I understand all about them not coming on until a certain speed and at certain light situations, but I have plenty of driving time on a dark country road until I get to the main highway, and they won't come on at all.
Will update when I find out what's wrong.

Re: High beam lights in auto mode?

Press the apps key on the UConnect screen. Press the all apps key. Press the settings key. Press the lights key. Press the auto dim high beams key - making sure there is a check next to the auto dim high beams. Press the X in the top right corner.
Then press forward on the turn signal arm (towards the dash). This will enable the auto dimming headlights. To turn off if needed, just pull back on the turn signal arm.

Re: High beam lights in auto mode?

WTF?!?

OP...

If I understand, you want to be able to MANUALLY turn ON your High Beams using the stalk.

If that is the case, then you want to turn OFF the "Automatic" High Beam function; since in auto mode, the High Beams only come on when the Vehicle wants.

You need to de-select or remove the check mark from that option on the UConnect screen.

Re: High beam lights in auto mode?

2014 Summit - my auto high beams stopped working about a month ago. I took it in for service today, they performed 3 flashes and nothing.

For clarity for those who aren't fully understanding the problem:

Lights set to auto, box for auto dimming checked:
Normally... engaging the high beams brings up a message in the EVIC along the lines of "Auto High Beams Active" and the high beams illuminate and dim with traffic.

Mine hasn't done this in a month and the updates have not fixed it. I have checked and uncheked every box, switched the lights to every position... nada.

If anybody (jeep people?) have any updates solutions they would be greatly appreciated.
