High beam lights in auto mode?

I just traded a 2014 JCG Overland for a 2014 Summit Hemi V8. I always set the light knob to the "automatic" setting. On the Overland, the automatic high beams came on when I pushed the stalk forward. On the Summit, they don't. Am I missing a setting somewhere else that I need to change in order to get the high beams to come on when I push tthe stalk forward? Thanks for any input.

On the Uconnect screen, under apps, then settings, there should be a setting to turn on and off the auto high beams.

Congrats on the upgrade! Summit & V8 is my favorite combo (besides my SRT)

When you push the stalk forward you should get a message in the middle of your instrument cluster that says "Auto high beams enabled" or something close. Do you get that message?

Also don't forget they wont come on unless you are going 25 mph or faster.

Thanks for all the replies, but I'm still confused. I just checked the settings unders apps and the box for auto-dim high beams is checked. However, when the knob for the lights is swtiched over to the far left (auto mode) and I push the stalk back, the high beams still do not come on, at any speed. I do get the indication on the dashboard that says the high beams are enabled, but the blue light doesn't come on and the high beams do not come on. If I move the knob for the lights over to the far right (manual mode), then the high beams come on when I push the stalk back and the blue light does come on as well as the notification on the dash.
This worked in auto mode as well on my Overland. Can't figure out why it doesn't work on the Summit.
Any other explanations?

If the blue light is lit, the high beams should be on. If not, schedule an appointment.

If you have the Auto high beams ticked on, then you cannot use the stalk to manually use high beams, only pull back for flashing them (or this is what happens in my '11).
I personally did not like the inability to manually turn them on, so I turned off the auto high beam option.

Maybe I'm way off, but are you trying to enable the auto high beams in an area where the sensor might be picking up light from another source? I'm only asking because my summit sometimes doesn't turn on when I'm in a parking lot. I'm assuming it's sensing light from the light stanchions. Try a very dark area.
+1
It has to be completely dark for the auto mode to work. My high beams actually turn off when there is a reflection from the big road signs, especially the yellow "no passing zone" facing my way from the left side. It turn them off also if the cars in front of me are far, far away. But if you are in country roads in complete dark works perfectly.

Again, thanks for all the responses/input! I'm going to have to have the dealer check it out - the auto dimming high beams do not work with the light switch set to auto. I understand all about them not coming on until a certain speed and at certain light situations, but I have plenty of driving time on a dark country road until I get to the main highway, and they won't come on at all.
Will update when I find out what's wrong.

Press the apps key on the UConnect screen. Press the all apps key. Press the settings key. Press the lights key. Press the auto dim high beams key - making sure there is a check next to the auto dim high beams. Press the X in the top right corner.
Then press forward on the turn signal arm (towards the dash). This will enable the auto dimming headlights. To turn off if needed, just pull back on the turn signal arm.

WTF?!?

OP...

If I understand, you want to be able to MANUALLY turn ON your High Beams using the stalk.

If that is the case, then you want to turn OFF the "Automatic" High Beam function; since in auto mode, the High Beams only come on when the Vehicle wants. :slapfight:

You need to de-select or remove the check mark from that option on the UConnect screen.

??? If you read the previous posts, he want to ENABLE the auto dim high beams.

2014 Summit - my auto high beams stopped working about a month ago. I took it in for service today, they performed 3 flashes and nothing.

For clarity for those who aren't fully understanding the problem:

Lights set to auto, box for auto dimming checked:
Normally... engaging the high beams brings up a message in the EVIC along the lines of "Auto High Beams Active" and the high beams illuminate and dim with traffic.

Mine hasn't done this in a month and the updates have not fixed it. I have checked and uncheked every box, switched the lights to every position... nada.

If anybody (jeep people?) have any updates solutions they would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem. Do you get the message in the EVIC that auto highbeams are enabled/disabled whenever your lights automatically come on? Mine didn't and there was a mysterious beep everytime I started the Jeep. The dealer replaced the camera unit in the rearview mirror housing and it has worked perfectly since. No more mysterious beep either. I had to show them on a different Jeep on the lot what it was supposed to show up on the Evic when the lights automatically came on vs what mine was doing (no messages at all).

2014 Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7L Hemi here

FYI, I too am having this exact same problem. Auto dimming headlights working like manual-only, no EVIC message, mysterious ding at start-up.

My suspicion is that this is the FFC forward facing amera as some had indicated above.

Need to get an out of warranty quote on this... first I will try a battery disconnect. No idea why these things crap out.
