Re: Highway !!!!!!!

no no troubles like that in my 2012 Summit V6... She runs smooth at higher rpms... minimal downshifting... do you have it in "sport Mode" by chance? That might affect it?

Re: Highway !!!!!!!

Quick thought is that ~100 mph the load is enough to engage PE and trigger a downshift.

Would need a scan tool to check throttle position and load % when it happens though.

I doubt the engineers considered a long term 100 mph cruise condition.

Re: Highway !!!!!!!

about a month ago I was in the middle of no where west oklahoma. I think there's fuel cut off at 105. they're not really made for much more than that. hemi has got some more juice and SRT-8 obviously. But that v6 is tapped out.

Re: Highway !!!!!!!

That's 100mph. From the OM:

Quote:
The transmission will automatically shift into the Overdrive gear if the following conditions are present:
  • the shift lever is in the DRIVE position,
  • vehicle speed is sufficiently high, and
  • the driver is not heavily pressing the accelerator.
They design this in to limit the top speed of the vehicle.

Re: Highway !!!!!!!

I think there is a cutoff at about 113 mph but is due to the tire rating, not the engine. I make 6000 in 3rd to be 125 mph & suspect if the cutout were removed it would reach that. Are pushing a barn door (cdA=12.8 sq ft ish) but know several large cars that have gotten there on half the hp.

Do believe the PLA required for 100 mph would be "heavily" enough to trip a downshift. The ton in 4th is barely half way through the rev range.
