I am taking a road trip from NY to Daytona for speedweeks and am debating whether to take my 14 Limited. What are you guy getting for highway mileage? I have not taken the truck on a long trip yet
Very poor humor. I can easily maintain 20mph on moderately flat ground in the Hemi as long as I restrain my right foot and the urge to run over riced up s***boxes.
Uphill/downhill [as in western USA] is just over 18 even at speed limits you poor easterners can only dream of....
NASCAR will mandate your gas mileage. If you claim any less your favorite drivers will lose points. Remember its no longer racing but racing entertainment. Lets hope the France family and NASCAR dont take over motorcycle road racing in this country and f it up like they have sportscar racing.

I average over 26 mpg in the summer as long as I don't go over 65-70 mph and there are not a lot of short trips. Winter in MN is not good for the fuel economy. Between the fuel blend and cold weather the mpg drops down to the 21 mpg range.
Winter - around 22 mpg. Summer - around 30 mpg. EcoDiesels drop milage running the winter blend fuels - also, with over 30 days of sub zero temps in Minnesota this winter, it is killing the milage. Much better milage when temps above zero.
Take the Altima, and keep the miles off the Jeep...or better yet, rent a vehicle for the trip.
In 2012, I rented a 2013 Altima (2.5L) and drove from Boston to NYC and back. I averaged about 31 mpg...and didn't put those 750 miles on my STI at the time. $80 rental charge plus gas for the three days I had it...can't beat that!
Problem is its almost 1200 mile drive each way from OP's residence. Most rental cars have base suspensions and suck on long trips. Big difference in ride quality between a STi and Altima and a GC. I used to make the run rom NOVA to Daytona Beach in under 9 hours and on really good days 8 hrs back in late 70's and early 80's. Speed limit back then was 55mph. 20yo and driving a 930 that the team owner wanted down in FLA always worked for me. Perfect car for the trip today a nice Jag XJR, a Vantage V12S or a CTS V.
@ 55mph in my 5.7 Hemi, I can get around 25-26 mph, @ 70 mph Im about 22 mpg, and 75 mph im at about 19 mpg... These are providing Im not hitting a head wind.....in which case, @ 70 mph, the mileage is around 17-18....
This is on my hemi so the smaller engines would theoretically do better?
Just arrived in Denver after a 440 mile trip at 80mph with my hemi. Got 19 mpg. Last week I did 500 miles in. Southern NM at 83-84 mph and got 16.5mph. Gonna try 70 mph next!
On the return trip of 440 miles from Denver I kept it about 74mph on cruise and got 20.2pmg.....not much improvement from going 80mph. But so much better than my 5.3L Avalanche that I used to drive!!
I did a trip in the fall from Pa. to North Carolina, loaded to the max, for car camping. Cargo carrier on the hitch loaded. Highway mileage averaged just over 23 mpg with the V-6.
Just got back from a run from Atlanta to Ft Lauderdale and back. Averaged 23.5 at 75 to 80 mph. By the way the most comfortable road trip I have ever taken. No driver fatigue what so ever!
Most comfortable Grand Cherokee ever!
