I agree that you need to be careful when purchasing a used vehicle but as long as you do your homework (VIN Check, Car Fax, Auto Check and do an independent inspection and test drive) you should be fine. People don't get rid of their cars because they are always trying to hide something or something is wrong with it. I just closed the sale of my 2009 Infiniti G37S Sedan this past Thursday to make way for a new JGC. I guarantee the guy that bought my car got a great deal on a loaded low-mile G37.

I'm in the process of searching for a 11 grand cherokee and i'm considering buying used, but only if I know the true history on it and why it was traded. Being in the midwest, I am finding a lot of used jeep owned grands that were either driven by jeep tech or 12mos leases driven by chrysler executives. I wouldn't have a problem as long as it wasn't a buy back or has a mile long service record. However, I'm also getting some fair prices for new from dealers wanting to unload stock.

Hmm, my question would be: Did you actually pay sticker?

Considering that the old rule of depreciation ("the moment you drive off the lot..") still applies and you are comparing the value to sticker (keep in mind, this car's VALUE was NEVER sticker in the first place), it sounds about right.

+1 the real depreciation is what it's worth vs. what you ACTUALLY paid

How did you like the G37? I test drove a few of those...the 7-speed auto was a bit busy but the car was a rocket. Ended up going with a different car but I thought the G37 was a kick in the pants.

Also, how well did the car hold its value over the 2 years?

I tend to keep cars for 10+ years and try to get 200K miles out of them, so I don't pay too much attention to depreciation. Good thing because I did a quick check of Edmunds TMV and I'd be lucky to get back what's owed on one of them if I traded it in now.

I think the OP was saying it does not have the air suspension, I don't think you can buy a car now a days with out air conditioning.

Re: Holy crap... hope no one is planning on trading in their WK2

I just traded my 2011 Limited 4X4 loaded for $36K a month ago. Of course as the 2012's come out prices will fall. You should still be able to get $34-35K at the right dealer.
