I recommend you familiarize yourself with market economies and the concept of negotiation.
I am very familiar with market economics and the art of negotiation. Why the hostility? This was just a post for those who might take interest, nothing more. I was originally offered $29k for trade in before getting up to $32k. I didn't take the offer so no worries about the stupidity part, in case you were concerned- but I doubt that you were....

I was in a pissy mood. But also I get irritated when people create sensationalism over a misunderstanding of statistics. The news media has a knack for this.

Re: Holy crap... hope no one is planning on trading in their WK2

after a few more days of shopping for one, I'd say $32k is a very good number. I can pick up a NEW Limited 4x4 (v8 or v6) for approx $5k more than what they offered for your used 4x2.

Exactly!!! Thats why I still find it interesting that the OP thinks that trade in offer of 32K for a rwd non-overland Jeep was a lowball. Again, thats a good trade in deal that dealership offered you.

And to the OP if you really paid 42 originally for a rwd limited thats pretty damn high. I know all dealerships are different but you could have easily purchased a new 4x4 Overland with adaptive cruise tech package for cheaper than that.

I am going to keep my 6spd manual Acura TL which I love, and she will get the Overland (which means I can drive it to hehe) So its a win win. I originally wanted the Hemi, but since it will be hers we will be looking for a V6 which should be perfect. I always resort back to the Overland as it seems no matter what other vehicle we look at the price always gets up to near 40K and those other vehicles offer soooo little when compared to a loaded overland. This Jeep truely is the absolute best bang for the buck period!

Re: Holy crap... hope no one is planning on trading in their WK2

It is actually NOT $10k..it is closer to $4900- BASED ON CURRENT MARKET CONDITIONS!!
The average discount (including rebates) is about 12% currently on GC's..Factor that in and the current market rate on one in the wrappers is about $36,900 in real money...
With any commodity, it is irrevelant what you paid..it is what the market will pay at an given time...see the stock market today???

I remember your growing family, a belated congrats and best wishes to Mom and your daughter. +1 to the Oland price value. My wife keeps sneaking my Jeep out vs. her MDX, thankfully the exhaust is too loud for her taste, otherwise she might pilfer it altogether.

sounds familiar (we just had our 3rd)...I drive an 06 TL (aspec) and I have been planning on unloading the TL for a jeep, but haven't quite pulled the trigger yet.
