Holy Crap I am so happy!!!

I got my Overland today. I put 80 miles on it already! After spending two weeks in the Limited V6 rental, it was neat to compare the two side my side. First, let me say that the air-suspension rides softer than the springs of the Limited. When I leave a light, or hit the brakes, their is more body lean with the QL. I don't really like that. But, it does smooth out the bumps better and gives more of a Cadillac type road feel. So, if you like that, QL is the way to go. Personally, if I didn't plan on going off-road where the added ground clearance was necessary, I would NOT get the QL, as I like a vehicle with less body roll. But, that is personal choice. On the plus side, the QL does lower the car a lot in park mode, and it makes it much easier to get out without getting your pants dirty on the side of the car, and the kids have a MUCH easier time climbing in.

I played with some of the gadgets, and LOVE them. The auto high beams are AWESOME. They react very quickly to other traffic in front of you, and immediately go down when necessary, and back up again when it is "all clear."

The ACC is the bomb! I was even using it in light stop and go traffic. I was using the middle setting, as the close setting is so close it freaks me out. Maybe as I learn to trust it more, I will be o.k. with such a short gap. The nice thing about ACC, is that if you are playing with the stereo, or looking at your phone, it won't let you rear-end the car in front of you should they brake when you are distracted. That was very handy tonight as I was learning the radio a little bit while I was driving. I view this as a HUGE safety feature, since most of us will look away from time to time for a couple of seconds for one reason or another (phone, screaming kids, whatever).

I could not get the front collision warning to activate, but I didn't push it too hard either. Still, I thought it would have come on a couple times when I approached a few cars in front of me pretty quickly. Maybe they should call it the "you just hit a car warning," because I don't think you will have time to avoid anything by the time it goes off from what I have seen so far. Maybe I didn't have the setting right?

Heated steering wheel - Oh MY GOD! Best invention ever. I was worried that only the wood part would get hot, but it is the entire circle. It is very fast too, and I turned it off after 1-2 minutes. I don't know how I will ever get into a 20 degree car without this feature ever again!

I will hopefully have more time to play with the car tomorrow. I haven't even paired my phone yet. Can't wait to discover other things that are great about this car.

On the body roll part, have you tried sport yet? It stiffens it up nicely.

Congrats!

Re: Holy Crap I am so happy!!!

Congrats! It's nice to hear others as happy as the rest of us that have them are. You'll love it and as you get used to adjusting the QL suspension based on your needs, you'll love it more. Nbtastic is right...put it in sport and it stiffens up a little. Have fun!!

I plan on it. I could not believe I forgot my camera when I went to the dealer yesterday. This weekend my son is ski racing all weekend. We are leaving in the dark, and coming back in the dark....

Re: Holy Crap I am so happy!!!

Happy to hear that you are jacking to your new ride, rdalcanto! I will just keep getting better. Pride of ownership in the WK2 is as high for me as with any of the other premium vehicles I've driven. And every time you fire up the Hemi, imagine the clanging hammer-on-spike sound from the commercial--that says "Built in the USA"!
