Hoping to get a new Jeep soon!

Hey everyone, I've been reading through the forum for the past few days while doing some research on a new Jeep!

Went to the dealer the other day and fell in love with a mineral gray '13 Laredo, with E group, the security and convenience group, and sunroof, and tow package. Really wanted leather, but can't justify the $4k price jump. Anyway, have one dealer down to $31,500 and the other at around $32,500 but I feel like I should be able to do a little better than that. I was hoping to get it for $29-30k.. Am I crazy to think that? MSRP is $34,600.

Also thinking of waiting for the 2014, but am concerned there's going to be a big price increase... but the better fuel economy would be a huge plus for me.. decisions, decisions!

Kate

Re: Hoping to get a new Jeep soon!

Kate,

Good luck! My friend is trying to get a 2012 Limited V6 w/ tow package that has MSRP of $40900 and the lowest price he has gotten so far is $37200 (plus $500 and tax). No one seems to be going lower at this time due to it being beginning of the month and quarter. I bought mine back in March towards the end of the month and got a great deal.

Jeeps have been selling well lately (Last quarter was their best quarter). Even the rebates are only $500 on the V6 Jeeps.

Cheers,
-Aiyer

Thanks! You know, I didn't even think of it as being the beginning of a quarter! Haha, I obviously knew it was the beginning of a month though,

Re: Hoping to get a new Jeep soon!

I purchased on the last day of the month/quarter and got 13.5% off MSRP. MSRP was $43K and paid $37K (rounded numbers). Available rebates also play into it.

Be sure to internet shop. Contact a bunch of dealers within a 100 mile radius and try to secure the best deal. Once you get someone to commit to a good price, you can then go into your local dealer with confidence and see if they'll match/beat it.

Re: Hoping to get a new Jeep soon!

31500 is a great price on that jeep although you may be able to get additional incentives depending if you have a lease or a military family member.

Update: My friend got the final offer... $36500+$500+Tax on a 2013 Limited w/ tow package. Sticker price was $40815. He is happy with the price... and will be picking it up today.

Re: Hoping to get a new Jeep soon!

jd31, did you have a trade?

One of the dealers said he was going to work with his manager and asked for my bottom line price. I told him I wanted 13% off MSRP and the lifetime warranty for $1900. Haven't heard back yet so I'm just waiting.

Going to email the other dealer (the one with the better price) the same offer to see what they say.

Aiyer, glad to hear your friend got a deal he is happy with!

Yep.. I am glad too. This is his second Jeep. He already has a 2012 Laredo X.

Funny story. Apparently, his wife, who drives a minivan (Honda Odyssey) borrowed the Jeep for few days. After 4 days or so she told him to get rid of the minivan and buy her a new Jeep. LOL.

My friend paid a lot for the Laredo X and when I told him how much I paid for my Limited w/ 730N and Tow package ($35.5k plus tax), he was sad for few days. He kept saying "he got r@ped!". On the new 2013 Jeep Limited he is picking up today, he said he is paying $500 less than what he paid for the Laredo. Yikes!!

Cheers,
-Aiyer

Re: Hoping to get a new Jeep soon!

The thing to keep in mind is just because you got a certain percentage off a limited or overland it doesn't always apply for a laredo. For the most part the more expensive the vehicle the more markup, a base laredo has very little markup in it.

No, I didn't have a trade in. I'm selling my previous truck privately. Just a purchase and I ended up financing through the dealer. Be sure to haggle on financing as well. Tell them you've got a really good rate from your bank and only if they beat it, by a considerable margin, will you consider. I got a really good rate. They offered 1.95% up to 60 months, or 2.9% up to 84 months.

Re: Hoping to get a new Jeep soon!

Well, finally got what I believe to be the best price. Other dealers when asked to meet or beat the price, told us to take it and they couldn't touch it.

Laredo Base with E group, Security and Convenience, sunroof and Tow package (MSRP $34,605+925 dest.) for $31,200 + $1900 for Lifetime Max Care = $33,300 OTD.

Obviously, these were the numbers we were using the dealer has their own spin on it for sure.

Was hoping to get it lower but overall, seems like a fair price given the lack of incentives. Inventory in the area is spotty and waiting much longer would put us in a more compromising position.
