How big is a WK2 gas tank?

I filled my jeep up multiple times. I don't recall ever being 22+ gallons lol

Yes I drove it to prolly within 5 miles of running out, but I swear I hit like 16-17 gallons on most times

Re: How big is a WK2 gas tank?

manual says capacity is approx 25gal and your build sheet says 24.6 which is likely the real number but that is from bone dry which yours isn't ever, hopefully

I have personally put in 24.1 and I drove it for quite a bit past the low fuel icon. Manual says reserve (low fuel light) is set at 3 gal left...point being if you don't dilly dally too far past the low fuel light you should have maybe 2+ gals left which means the usual fill from empty (real world, not dry) shouldn't be much over 22 gals, generally speaking.

Your other low fil must have been a vapor issue, bad nozzle, etc...I have had a wonky nozzle or two...

If you drive your Jeep until the tank is bone dry, which nobody would intentionally ever do, I bet its more than 22.5 when filled.

Has to be hard on your fuel pump... Stupid thing to do anyways, unless you're an extremely hot blonde female in your early twenties.

Re: How big is a WK2 gas tank?

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah we were on the turnpike and the exit I skipped didn't have a getgo. I had to drive another 12 miles to get to the place I ended at. I have fuel perks and got like 60 cents off a gallon, so I took a risk and got there. That 22.1 gallons didn't click the full mechanism on the pump. I just stopped for no reason. I actually started looking under the jeep to see if it was pouring out hahaha. My older BMW has a leaky filler tube so I anticipate all cars leaking now as a habit haha.

So you risked running out of fuel on the turnpike to save .60 a gallon?

I'm sure it's fine, you pretty much never hear of fuel pumps failing in modern cars. At 22 gallons it still had almost 3 gallons of gas in there. That pump was like fully submerged at all times.
Going through my logs I regularly put in 22 gallons of gas, and that's filling up pretty much first opportunity after low fuel light first comes on.

Why let it get so low before refueling? I honestly don't know if my fuel light even works as I never let it get that low.

Re: How big is a WK2 gas tank?

I rarely let mine get below half tank... especially in the winter.
